I totally copied my friend Emily, when she showed up at my house the other day wearing this dress, I knew it had to be mine. I know, shameless copycat. (I promise not to wear it on the same day Em!) We’ve been sweating our faces off for the last several weeks up here in the PNW. It has been SOOOOO HOT! I don’t know what it is, maybe all the water in the air, but 95 degrees up here feels way hotter than 95 degrees felt in Arizona. Also, no one has AC in the Pacific Northwest, because basically it’s supposed to rain a lot here and never get all that hot… (Did you hear that, mother nature?? Send rain!) Anyway, when it’s sweat-your-face-off-hot, I like to pull out my summer secret weapon. The easy-breezy, maxi dress. To be honest it took me awhile to jump on the maxi dress trend, but when I did (about 3 summers ago) I fell hard. I mean, a piece that simultaneously feels chic but also like wearing pajamas is pretty fabulous to me. I usually have to hem my maxi’s because, well I’m short, but the length was just fine on this one. And I like the way a maxi dress creates a nice long line; I feel like it makes me look taller. ;-)
ps. Loft is just about the only place I’ve found maxi’s in petite (not that I’ve looked incredibly hard) so I thought I’d pass that bit of info on to you fellow shorties. And right now a bunch of their maxis are on major sale. ;-)

oh sweet! thanks for letting me know! I’ve never looked for a maxi at JCrew. ;-)
Hmmm… I may need to be the 3rd wheel here. Love it!
I love maxi dresses, too. They do feel as comfortable as pajamas, but can be a nice casual look or dressed up a bit. Being on the short side, I have the same length problems. :)
