Last week we took the kids up to Vancouver, B.C. for a few days. What a beautiful city! But also, so cold right now. Right on the water like that brrrr… we stayed in a pretty city hotel and walked the cobblestone streets of Gastown, explored Stanley Park, walked the waterfront, swam/layed by the pool, enjoyed the hot tub, window shopped and ate lots of yummy things…
It’s a good thing getting in shape is one of my New Years resolutions…
Speaking of the New Year. January is historically kind of a depressing month for a lot of people myself included, so this year I’ve decided to devote this month on the blog to all the ways we can make January (and by extension the year) amazing! So keep coming back because there are lots of fun things in store…
First up:
Take a winter getaway.
Just because Christmas break is over doesn’t mean it’s not a great time to get out of town. Even if it’s just a quick overnighter on the weekend, getting away in January can be liberating, literally. Take a quick close to home trip, or grab a cheap flight someplace warmer, a ski weekend in the mountains, or even a staycation at a local hotel, plus a spa night can do wonders for those January blues.
Plus, double bonus, January is not a popular time of year for travel so you can get better rates on hotels and flights. My favorite websites for booking travel here, here and here. We booked our most recent trip through Priceline and got a great deal on a 4-star hotel even though it was around New Years Eve (a popular travel time).
And if you need tips for packing this time of year, check out my winter travel packing post from last week…
Happy January everyone!
(ps. I walked all over Vancouver in these boots and my feet never hurt once. Proving once again that they are the best booties ever made.)
Such a great outfit! I like each piece of it!
Cute look:P
Shall We Sasa
In 6th grade a pilot came to speak to my class and he said that Vancouver was his favorite place to go. That always stuck with me for some reason. I’ve always wanted to go but KY is not so close! And I love the idea of making January amazing! It’s a fresh start so we should soak it up! As always, super cute outfit.
I like the idea of making January amazing! I took a nice hike on a warmer day this week, yesterday we got ice cream at Dairy Queen. Today baby is sick, so had to miss church, but I’m going to make yummy chai tea, and maybe color with my daughter!
