Dress: JCPenney. (c/o)
The other day I was getting dressed in my typical mom uniform: distressed boyfriend jeans, fun flats, a sweater and a statement necklace, and I realized that I love wearing that combo. I don’t care if it’s boring to admit it, I can created a million different combinations of that basic outfit formula from pieces in my closet, and I always feel good in them. Distressed jeans are my jam, and I love that.
But then, I popped into JCPenney while out and about with miss Ava, and I found this gorgeous Liz Claiborne® micro pleat dress. Bright colors, springy floral print and so, so twirly. It doesn’t matter how old I get, when I put on a dress like this, I want to twirl. And I always feel great in them.
Twirly dresses are kind of my jam too.
I used to think I had to put myself in a box, “I’m a jeans girl,” or “I’m a dress girl.” But the truth is, I’m both. I love casual outfits that work for my everyday life; that I can wear and be comfortable running around the city, taking Ava to the park, or on a trip to the farmer’s market. And I love to put on something uber feminine, a full skirt or a twirly dress with the least practical heels I can find and a clutch that (let’s face it) fits little more than my phone and a tube of lipstick. There are always opportunities for both, even in the life of a mom, and I kind of love that.
Because I don’t have to choose.
What I love about JCPenney is that I don’t have to choose when I’m shopping. I can find quality pieces for great prices, and with their newer more modern line geared towards millennials plus the classic lines, it’s easy to find pieces that fit both sides of me, the t-shirt-and-ripped-jeans-loving mom, and the twirly-dress-and-high-heels-loving girl who still wants to date her husband.
Because I can be both.
