I don’t have much of an appetite in the mornings, but if I skip breakfast I’m pretty much ravenous by 11:30, my energy levels drop and I end up eating something not great just because it’s quick. I’ve found I do much better if I drink a green smoothie in the morning. This one is my favorite recipe. It’s got tons of spinach in it, it’s super low calories, packed with protein and tastes like a tropical vacation. Plus it gives me tons of energy and fills me up for hours.
Here’s what you need:
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (this brand and this brand are my favorites.)
1 heaping handful of spinach.
1 cup of frozen fruit: I use a mix of strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, pineapple and peaches.
1 cup of Coconut milk
Directions: drop spinach in the blender first, then protein powder, fruit and coconut milk. Blend and enjoy! So simple and quick. I drink it almost every morning.
This is seriously the yummiest green summer smoothie ever. You can’t even taste the greens and even my kids love it. I use my Kitchenaid blender to make it, which I love. It’s got a super big pitcher, and it blends so well. I love the automatic pulsing on the ice crush setting. Perfect for smoothies and stops on it’s own when it’s done. Cleans up easy, and I love that it’s cute and pink. Looks so cute on my kitchen counter. It’s about half the price of a blendtec so that’s an even bigger win for me.
Happy blending everyone!
