Gingham top. Trench coat. (also similar here.) Similar Jeans. Similar Scarf. Booties. Sunglasses. Bag. Watch. Ring.
This outfit is a nice representation of wishful thinking. As in, me wishing that spring will soon come. It was so pretty and sunny yesterday, I legitimately thought my trench coat would be warm enough. Hahaha. Mother Nature is laughing at me right now… The windchill yesterday was no joke and I was freezing all day. Seattle’s mild winters have made me so weak, these New England temps are no joke.
Speaking of Seattle, I’m flying back to the emerald city this afternoon for a blog project. It’s just a quick trip but I am so excited to be back in my favorite city doing something creative. The last few weeks since we got here have been such a whirlwind of trying to figure out where I’m going (seriously, what did we do before map apps?), getting the kids in school, getting everything finished up to close on the house, stay caught up on my blog projects, and then throw in a nasty bout with the seasonal flu that hit all of us. All while living in a hotel. Crazy town.
We close on our house in less than two week (hurray!) and we are all getting so anxious to get moved in. Probably me most of all because I’ve been driving the kids to and from the hotel down to their school every day (which is about 25 minutes away from where we’re staying) and man it is time consuming. Speaking of their schools, I have to tell you how impressed/happy I’ve been with them. I read that the schools were great in Connecticut and the schools they are attending were very highly rated, but still I have been so surprised by exactly how great the schools have been. I was a little worried, because we’re going to live out in the country, that the school would feel small or that there wouldn’t be very many options, but it turns out the schools are amazing. Great really engaged teachers and staff, tons of personal attention, small class sizes, lots of options for music, art, languages. Craig and I keep high-fiving ourselves, because the schools are so good.
Okay, I’ll stop gushing about the schools…
And start about this cute spring popover. I’m a sucker for anything gingham and I have been looking for the perfect red gingham shirt for years. Well I found one, and it’s under $30! I can’t wait to style this with my summer clothes later this year, and layer it up for the rest of the cold season. I was telling Craig last night that I felt like I packed so heavy when we were flying out here, because it was me alone with four kids and bags packed for a month with bulky winter clothes. It was a circus guys. But after a few weeks, you realize that the same 4 sweaters, and two coats start to feel a little boring, and that the stuff you packed to entertain your kids on the flight gets old in about 3 days. Yet another reason we are all excited to move into our house. Thank goodness my kids love to read, because Barnes and Noble has been our second home…
Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have something fun planned for the long weekend!
Welcome to New England.! Have you checked out Mystic Aquariium and Seaport yet? It’s a must see for kids.
Welcome to New England :) I moved from Missouri to Massachusetts nine years ago this summer. Spring in New England is about the most stubborn thing you will ever see but the summers and falls are basically magic. I hope you and your family are happy here and enjoy all the charms and quirks of this part of the country :) Oh and we have spent the last three years renovating an 1860 farmhouse so best of luck with your farmhouse as well!
