maxi dress of my dreams.

maxi dress.(back in stock in several sizes!) similar shoes. bag. sunglasses. necklace.

Well, spring break is over at our house and the kids went back to school this morning.  We had the best week, and only managed to get a little sunburnt once when we went to the beach last Tuesday.  (whoops.)

Spring break at home was actually so fun, because we’re still in that honeymoon “I can’t believe this is actually our farmhouse” phase.  The kids and I did a total basement overhaul clean-up on Monday, which meant Tuesday we got to go play at the beach all day.  Then Wednesday we did a few more house projects and the kids played outside with the chickens and some new friends for hours and hours.  It was so fun to watch.  Thursday I spent the day in NYC, and then Friday we spent the day running around getting everything we needed for Easter Sunday.  On Saturday we built a chicken coop for our chicks which are now ready to be outside, and worked on our family room remodel some more.

Easter Sunday was perfect.  Church in the morning, an egg hunt with the kids after, lunch outside in the yard and an awesome game of wiffle ball baseball.

I hope your Easter was lovely too!

Now lets talk about this maxi dress, because you guys, it is the maxi dress of my dreams!

Maxi dresses are tricky for me to pull off, especially since I’m short, and because I’ve got kind of funny bone structure in my hips, but I love this dress so much.  I love that the fabric is a little thicker and it also has some structure (it’s not like a big giant bag the way so many maxi dresses fit) so it kind of hugs your curves, but the fabric is also thick enough not to show everything.  The stripes are so perfect, and the navy is a nice deep color.  The quality is there too.  (I’m wearing a 00 for reference.  The arms are more fitted, especially if you have thicker arms like me, but the fit is so, so good on this one.)

I feel like J.Crew was a little off for a few years, but they have really gotten back to their roots this season, and there are so many gorgeous pieces right now.  (Like my polka dot dress I wore for Easter.)  Has anyone else noticed this?  I feel like everything I order/try on from J.Crew lately is amazing.  (I just want to buy all the things, it’s a problem…)

  1. Lovely maxi dress! And I hear you, as a fellow short gal, most long dresses look like sacks on me. Add to that an athletic build and it’s a recipe for disaster, which is why my current wardrobe doesn’t have a single dress in it at the moment. This dress gives a great shape, and the stripes look like the perfect size. Nice find!
