Nordstrom Anniversary sale fitting room try-ons: part 2.

Okay guys, here’s part two of my fitting room series from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.   There were some pieces that I loved and some pieces that were just down right comical.  Feel free to enjoy at my expense. ;-)

If you have any questions about fit or material, ask them in the comments and I’ll make sure to get back to you!

striped peplum shirt.

This cute striped peplum was a great design and a great fit.

black scalloped sweater.

I love the fit and design on this black scalloped sweater.  It would be so cute with a tweed skirt, or just some jeans and boots. I’m not sure if you can tell here, but the bottom is scalloped too.

ruffle sweatshirt.

I thought I was going to love this one, but just no.  It was so weird and awkward on me.  I really wanted to like it, but it didn’t work.

Tie sweatshirt.

I actually love this one, but the tie is just a little too long for me.  Like it was awkwardly long.  Maybe that’s because I’m only 4’11” but seriously, it was just too long.

Gray sweater.

This gray sweater was gorgeous and so insanely soft, it was just too big for me.

Brown leather jacket.

I love the fit on this leather jacket, and the material is insanely soft.  I don’t really do puffy shoulders, because they make me look even younger (and I don’t need that, my height already does enough for me) and I have broad shoulders, so it’s not a spot I like to over emphasize.  Otherwise it’s a gorgeous jacket.

Black v-neck tee.

This tee is seriously so soft.  it runs big and the v-neck is very deep, which is why it didn’t come home with me.

black striped tee. leather skirt.

I love a great leather skirt and this one is so pretty and insanely soft.  The smallest they had in store was a 2 which was much too big for me, but I think its a TTS fit. (I normally wear a 00)

ruffle sweatshirt.

Okay, I think my face accurately describes my feeling about this one.  What the “h” is the design on this?  When I spotted it I thought to myself, “that’s either going to amazing, or so weird.”  It was the latter.

Thank you so much for all your time and effort on this sale. I really appreciate it. I have a question though. One of your tips was to buy something in the wrong size if your size was sold out and then exchange it when your correct size was restocked. I’m wondering if there is a trick to finding out about restocked items. I’ve just been checking on the website once a day. Is that what I should do for the next few weeks and then see what happens? Thanks again. I know this takes a lot of time!

      Hi Brittany,

Okay, here are two tips, one is yes. Stalk the item online. If I’m looking for something obsessively that I really really want to come back in stock, I’ll just check on it like 3 times a day. Then if it does, I end up snagging it. The second is to make friends with a stylist in store and ask her to check on different items for you. She’ll literally call you if she finds it in stock. Hope this helps! If there’s an item you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll keep an eye out for it too!

I think that one is sold out right now (they may restock the day the sale goes live to the public) but this one is still in stock and I tried it on, it’s super cute and comfy and it’s the exact same price and color: http://bit.ly/2uxLO8X

Thanks! This one is sold out in my size right now, but I’ll keep checking back for both options. Thanks again! I really appreciate your help.

  2. That striped peplum top is adorable! I would have loved to add a brown leather jacket to my wardrobe but, as another broad shouldered gal, puffy sleeves are a no-no for me. Too bad because it’s a great color! If you are looking for a v-neck t similar to the one you have here, just not quite as low of a v-neck, Target’s relaxed v-neck t has worked well for me thus far this summer, even with putting it into the dryer.

I love that striped peplum top – so cute! What is up with that pink ruffled top – who designed that?! I am on the hunt for the perfect black leather jacket but I am no where near petite (5’7) and I am not entirely sure on what style I should be looking at. I want something timeless and still stylish and not too mom-ish. I am getting old (turning 40 ) but don’t want to look it. I feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start!

Hey girl! I know, that pink one is so weird. It felt like ballerina gone wrong.

I totally get it. But anyone any age can totally rock a leather jacket. Here are a few great options for you!

If you are looking for a great price and don’t mind a faux leather, this is an awesome jacket. In my experience, this brands jackets run a little small, but are really great. This has a little edge to it (always a great idea) and it’s only $64. here’s the link: http://bit.ly/2tcWkOS

If you want real leather and you are looking for something a little more classic and timeless this jacket is perfect. My real leather jacket is by halogen and it’s held up beautifully and I love it. This one is over $100 off at $229, which is a great price for a real leather jacket: http://bit.ly/2uwEw5j

If you want real leather but you also want a little more of an edgy moto feel try this one from TOPSHOP. In my experience this brand also runs a little small, although I can’t speak for this jacket. but this jacket is really pretty and it’s almost $200 off: http://bit.ly/2uvEvP6

there are a few more as part of the sale but these are my faves. Let me know if you want me to find a few more! xo

Thanks so much for the work you put into your Nordstrom posts! We are similar in size so it’s nice to see how clothes fit on you. I follow other bloggers but they are much taller than me… the clothes that look good on them don’t always look good on me. What is your thought on bootcut jeans? I still love skinny jeans but I’m looking for other options. Thanks so much!

Oh my gosh, yes times a thousand to bootcut jeans! They are so good for us petite girls. Seriously. Sometimes I wish skinnies would go out of style because they aren’t nearly as flattering as the bootcut ones. I think there are a few good bootcut jeans in the sale. My favorite brand for bootcut jeans is Hudson. These come in petites and they’re under $60 right now: http://bit.ly/2uxAWHZ I’ve had good luck with Kut from the Kloth petites. hope this helps!
