Hey guys! I am so excited for today’s post! By far, my most asked question is how I do my wavy beach curls, and today I’m going to show you how! It’s so easy, I feel like anyone can do it with a little practice. I’m taking you through the whole process in the pictures below, and make sure you scroll to the bottom of the post where I’ll give you instructions, and share my secrets to a successful wavy beach curl. If you have any questions, make sure and ask in the comments and I’ll get right back to you!
Before we get started:
I’m going to go on Facebook live today, at 1pm EST to show you how I curl my hair. You’ll be able to ask questions and I’ll answer them on the spot.
-I start with straight hair. I blow dry my hair with the T3 dryer, I use this Nume oil before blow drying. Then I straighten it with this T3 straightener. I usually wear my hair straight for a day or two, just to stretch it out so I can go longer between washings. I started using T3 about a year ago and I love both pieces.
-On the day I curl, I use this dry shampoo in my roots, and this dry conditioneron my ends. Both of these are amazing and worth every penny, especially the dry conditioner. Then I blow it out a little to disperse the product.
-Now it’s time to curl. I always center part my hair, but you can do whatever your natural part is, then divide your hair in half and pin the top half up.
-I use this Nume curling wand and I love it. It works so well and the curls stay in. I have very thick heavy hair, so the curls like to fall out, but they stay in really well using the Nume.
-To curl, take about a 1 inch section of hair and you are going to twist it down onto the wand making sure you let the hair corkscrew as you twist it down. (See the picture above) You do this by pinching the end of the hair and letting it twist around itself as you roll it onto the wand. This is the most important part of the process. You don’t want the hair flat on the wand, it needs to be twisted or it will create a ringlet, which is not what we’re looking for. Leave the ends out of the roll, stopping about two inches before the end of your hair.
-Always curl back away from your face. That will create the kind-of relaxed windswept look.
-Hold the hair on the wand for long enough to set the curl. This takes a little experimenting, cause everyone’s hair is different. Mine is very thick and coarse so I have to hold each piece for 15-20 seconds at least. If you have finer hair, you’ll be able to go much faster.
-Starting from the bottom, I gently pull the hair straight off the wand, and then I don’t do anything with it for several minutes so the curl has a chance to cool and set.
-After the bottom is finished, I take the top down and repeat the whole process on the top of my hair, making sure to to corkscrew twist the pieces as I roll them onto the wand.
So there you have it! If you have any questions please ask them in the comments and I’ll answer!
ALSO! I’m going to go on Facebook live today, at 1pm EST, and basically curl my hair with you. (It’s my first live so I’m a little intimidated to be honest) But, if you want to jump over to my Facebook page and follow along, please do! Just go over and like the page and you will get a notification when I go live. (At least I think that’s how it works. Haha.) You can ask me any questions and I’ll answer them on the spot. (Also, you’ll get to see how many times I actually burn myself when I curl my hair.) ;-)
This is my favorite way to curl my hair! I can’t wait for my hair to grow out a little longer so I can switch back from my hair straightener to my wand!
So pretty!! It turned out great!
