fall trend: statement sweaters.

sweater.(comes in petites!) jeans. sunglasses. necklace. similar shoes. similar bag.

Something happened over the last week in Connecticut– there was suddenly a little crisp in the air, and now when you walk outside, it feels like fall.

Cue, all the joyful, celebratory feelings.  Cause fall, is my season.

 I love getting dressed in the fall, and cozy knits are definitely one of my favorite things to wear.   My husband always teases me about my large “boring” sweater collection… Boys.  They just don’t get it. (I like sweaters okay!)  But even he can’t deny that the new statement sweaters trend is anything but boring.

I picked up this pretty blush ruffle sleeve statement sweater a few days ago, and I am in love.  Do you guys get emails from Nordstrom?  I usually unsubscribe to other stores I order from, because who has time for all that junk mail?  But with Nordstrom I like getting good trend and sale alerts, and they’re emails are actually really good, and often artfully chosen.  I spotted this sweater in one they sent me a week or two ago, and I felt like I’d died and gone to sweater heaven.  The best part about it was that this sweater comes in PETITES!  Usually I can’t even bother with sleeves like this because #shorty;  they are always about a mile too long for me, and don’t work at all on my frame.  So you can imagine my thrill when I discovered that this pretty sweater was available in petites.  And the fit, is perfect.  (I’m wearing an XXSP.)

Nordstrom has a great petite section, both in store and online (the best selection is online, of course) and I’m always so excited by the pieces I find that also come in petites.

But back to statement sweaters.  This is going to be a huge trend for fall, and I am loving all the pretty feminine details and colors.  Give me all the ruffles.   Blush is also going to be huge again this fall, and I love that I can incorporate a softer color into my fall line up.  The great thing about pretty details and colors is that it makes it super easy to elevate a simple jeans outfit.  This sweater and jeans look worked great during the day with a pair of flats, and transitioned easily into a little date night look.
