a little sweet, a little salty: how to style the victorian trend.

I don’t know about you, but in the fall I feel all excited about fashion again.  I’m also a little out of practice.  In the summer, everything gets kind of basic for me.  Heat kills my creativity when it comes to what I wear.  But as soon as there’s a chill in the air, I start getting excited about getting dressed again.

One of the things I do to get back into the swing of things (fashion-wise) is to research the top trends for the fall season.  One of my favorite new trends for this fall is the modern Victorian trend.

You know I love any great feminine detail and with the demure high ruffled necklines, pretty florals, eyelets, and dramatic sleeves, the modern Victorian trend is right up my alley.  In fact, it’s those details that easily make this one of my favorite trends for fall 2017.

Styling an ultra feminine trend like this can always be a little tricky.  You want to avoid looking too precious, especially if you are very petite like me.  I really don’t need to look any more juvenile than I already do.  –The other day at Hannah’s soccer game one of the other mom’s asked me which one of the girls was my sister.  {insert eye roll.} —   So adding florals and puffy sleeves needs to be done with care…

One of my favorite ways to style an ultra feminine piece is to pair it with something a little more edgy, like ripped jeans and a leather jacket.  I call it a little sweet, a little salty.  I found this beautiful victorian inspired pink floral eyelet blouse at Shopbop last month (it’s on sale right now during their Event of the Season sale), and knew I had to bring it with me to Paris.  I’ve always had a weakness for eyelet, it’s got such pretty pink floral details, and don’t even get me started on those sleeves.  Since I was going for a more casual look for a day walking around the city, I paired it with jeans and flats, but I’m itching to pair it with one of my leather skirts, or my olive green high waisted culottes. (last seen here.)

Are you on board with the Victorian trend?  Have you given it a try?

Don’t forget, there’s only today and tomorrow to grab items from the Shopbop event of the season sale.  It ends tomorrow.  I’ve rounded up my favorites from the sale below!

That’s my absolute favourite trend this season! It’s so beautiful and that top is gorgeous! And I love how you styled it so casually but without losing its essence.
