Pinafore Jumper. (c/o Shein.) T-shirt. Shoes. Sunglasses. Bag.
You guys, spring showed up in New England on Tuesday, and by Wednesday it was summer. (I’m only kind of kidding.) Nonetheless, I’m thrilled to be pulling out all my spring and summer styles I’ve been hoarding the last couple months.
I have so many thoughts to share in this blog post today, so here’s what I’m going to cover: one of my favorite trends this season, how I choose which items to spend more and which items to save on, and my thoughts on Shein and how I find the best pieces to order from them.
I love the pinafore trend that’s come out the last few seasons and this jumper is a fast favorite. (I’m wearing a size small) It’s so comfy, and the adjustable straps make it very petite friendly. Even though I love it, I thought that the style would be a little man repelling, but when my husband got home from work the other day he was like “you look so cute today!” and then gave me a big kiss. Super comfy outfit that I love and also attracts my husband? Winning all around with this one. I love these breezy styles in the summer time because they make it so much easier to stay cool, and I will be living in these all summer long. Plus they are the perfect style for wearing around the farm. ;-)
I get a lot of questions about what to invest in for your closet (especially after my closet course) and this outfit is the perfect example. I spend more on items that I will use all the time for years. I’m willing to pay more because I want classic style and quality that will last. So my bag, shoes and sunglasses are all investment pieces. But for items that are overtly trendy, I don’t invest a lot.
Now don’t get me wrong, I still don’t advocate wasting money, even with items that are inexpensive and trendy you should still be picky, only adding pieces that you love and that you can wear with lots of different items in your closet. This will help keep you from falling into the “my closet is over-flowing with stuff I don’t even like” situation.
Like this pinafore jumper for example, I super love it. It’s cute, and comfortable, and I can think of a ton of ways to wear it with items I already have in my closet, and I know I will style it over and over again all spring and summer long. But I’m not sure it will still be a trend next year, so I’m happy I found a pair that is inexpensive because I’m not expecting to necessarily be wearing it in 5 years.
Every time I feature a piece from Shein I get a ton of questions about ordering from the site, quality, fit, etc. So here’s the low-down. The prices on Shein are super low, so I never expect super high quality, but to be honest I am often surprised, and really like the pieces I get. The shipping used to be insanely long, (like 3-4 weeks) but I believe they’ve changed it, because the last few times I’ve ordered, the pieces have arrived within a week or so.
There are thousands and thousands of pieces on the site so it’s easy to get over-whelmed and can be hard to find winners with fit so here’s my trick. If you find a piece on the site, read all the reviews. The reviewers give so much information on fit, and quality and often people post pictures so you can really see how the pieces look on. It’s definitely become a go-to for me when I’m looking for trendy pieces, and I really love finding cute tops there.
If you have any other questions about ordering from Shein, or anything else, go ahead and ask in the comments and I’ll be sure to answer them!

Do you find that jumpers can look childish? I’ve gotten a few comments when wearing them.
