why I’m making the switch to safer beauty.

A few months ago my husband hurt his knee while taking a mixed martial arts class, and it swelled up like you wouldn’t believe in the craziest way.  I literally have never seen anything like it.  And being the calm and collected human that I am, I immediately started went right to the conclusion that it was cancer.  (It wasn’t, he saw a Dr. and everything was fine.)

But I got on to my insta-stories to tell the tale and I explained that my brother had cancer for 5 years while I was in high school and that kind of stuff messes with you a little bit.  It makes you realize that sometimes the worse case scenario actually happens.  So now, every time I get a headache I’m kind of at least a little worried that it might actually be a tumor.  (It’s not a tuma!)

Anyway, when there are things that give me anxiety, like the possibility of cancer, I try to think about the things that I can control.  I cannot control whether or not I or anyone in my family gets sick down the road, but I can control the kinds of things that I am putting in and on and around our bodies, and give us the best possible chance for a long and healthy life.

And this lead me down a rabbit hole of research and onto a path to find safer beauty products for myself and my family.

Which is when I discovered Beauty Counter, and I have since fallen in love with the brand, their mission, and especially their products.

Today I thought I would share how I’ve switched up my skincare routine for safer products, what I am using and why I love it.  Since I started using these products my skin has been clearer, and brighter, I feel like I’ve needed to use less make-up and it just feels more fresh in general. What I love about Beauty Counter is that I’m getting even better results with safer products, and I’m not paying any more than I was paying for previous skincare products.

Charcoal cleansing bar.  This has replaced my daily cleanser, and when I first got it I was kind of like “what the heck is this?”  Cause it’s literally a bar of soap, but oh my goodness it works amazingly well.  Cleans and purifies your skin without drying it out.

Balancing and Charcoal Face Mask.  This mask I swear has actual magical powers. As it dries you can literally see if pulling the oils and gunk out of your pores.  It’s amazing.  I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week.

#1 Brightening Face oil. This oil is so refreshing, it’s got a citrus base and it just brightens and revitalizes your skin.

Countermatch intense moisture serum. I’ve been using this serum day and night after cleansing and it works as a moisturizer and anti-ager.  I love the way it makes my skin look and feel.

Countermatch adaptive moisture lotion.  I follow the serum with this moisture lotion and I’ve been using it on my hands as well.

Countermatch eye rescue cream.  I’ve been using this eye cream at night, and I love it for combatting puffiness and dark circles.  Make sure to only apply it with your ring finger!  Your eye area is very delicate.

Countermatch recovery sleeping cream.  This is another magic product.  I don’t even know what they are doing with this formula but every time I use it I wake up and my skin looks better.  My skin is smoother, softer and more glowy.

So there you have it!  My current skin care routine!  Have you tried Beauty Counter?  Are you making the switch to safer products?
