August is a month of transition over here. We’re holding onto the last few weeks of summer really tight, while simealtaneously preparing for back to school. Fall fashion is all around us, and yet the air is still thick with New England summer heat. It’s a strange juxtaposition.
I feel like I run into the same predicament when back to school shopping. It still feels like summer, but you want to buy clothes that will work for fall, and you don’t want your kids to have to wait 2 months to wear them. Luckily, J.Crew Factory has tons of great back to school styles for kids that transition really nice between summer and fall. And they have pretty great pieces for moms and dads too. ;-)
You guys know my love for J.Crew Factory runs deep, it’s been one of my favorite brands for years. And part of the reason I’m such a super fan, is because of how family friendly the brand is. The clothes are high quality, well designed, timeless, fun and very reasonably priced. And their kids clothes are just so dang cute.
When it comes to back to school shopping I try to buy my kids fun but versatile pieces that can be transitioned into fall seamlessly, simply by changing up the shoes and adding layers. For example, Hannah’s super cute and comfy cords are great for late summer paired with some sandals and a tee. In the fall they’ll look just as great with a pair of booties and a sweater and maybe a cute scarf. Ava’s little denim dress transitions easily into fall by just adding a cardigan or a jacket and a pair of riding boots, rain boots, or even tights with booties.
Carter’s dude tee is fun and cheeky now in the summer and in the fall he can throw a jacket over top, or button down left open, or even throw on a long sleeved tee underneath for a fun layered look. Ethan’s t-shirt is the perfect basic for layering under sweaters and sweatshirts, and his pop-over is great to be tied around his waist during the day and to stay warm on cool summer evenings, and will be perfect to layer with a jacket into the fall.
This super cute eyelet shirt I’m wearing can be easily worn in the summer by just scrunching the sleeves and wearing it with a cute scalloped summer skirt, but it will be super cute in the fall with the sleeves worn down and paired with a great pair of cropped jeans and a light jacket.
How do you transition from summer to fall?
