a flocked French farmhouse inspired Christmas tree.

King of Christmas Flocked tree.

Although I haven’t completely decked my halls just yet, (who are we kidding, I’m not even close) I thought I would give you a little sneak peak at how I styled my King of Christmas flocked tree this year, because I am quite happy with how it turned out.

First of all, let’s talk about the actual tree because it is so beautiful.  I bought my first flocked tree from King of Christmas last year for the family room, and knew I wanted to add a second one in the living room this year.  They are so beautiful and so quick and easy to put together.  This one is pre-lit, so it literally took me less than five minutes to have it out of the box and set up.  Another 10-15 minutes  of fluffing branches and it was ready to go.  The branches are so realistic and beautiful and I have been so impressed with the quality.

We have fairly low ceilings in our old farmhouse, and I really didn’t want the tree to overwhelm the room, so I went with the 7.5 foot slim tree and I am so happy with it.  It’s perfect in the space.

So let’s talk about how I gave my tree a farmhouse flair.   Our living room is French farmhouse inspired: think, lots of soft textures, ticking stripes, old grain sacs, linens and whites, antique furniture with chippy paint and (eventually) a pair of deconstructed chairs (whenever I get around to starting that project).  I wanted to carry that feeling into our Christmas decor this year in the living room, and to me, the tree is the center of the decor.

When I am designing a tree I always try to create a color scheme/theme, and a feeling I want to create.  I wanted this tree to feel light and airy but also earthy and organic (if that makes any sense).  Basically I wanted a lot of soft white details, great texture and pretty wood tones to make it feel natural and grounded.  I love trees with lots of texture and a few surprising elements, so I start curating pieces that give it that feel.

Wooly ornaments of forest and farm animals, white miniature houses, wooden snowflakes and trees, jute pom garland, and copper angels all make for a tree that’s as interesting as it is pretty to look at.  I also love using ribbon to wrap the tree, it feels very traditional.  This year went with a French ticking stripe ribbon with burlap garland for added texture.  (My family room tree is wrapped in a buffalo check ribbon, but more on that later…)

I have two more trees going up this year (don’t judge, it’s my favorite part of Christmas!) and I can’t wait to show you what I’m doing with those as well!

Tips: Order your tree right now, so you make sure to get it here in time, and also, King Of Christmas has a really, really good sale happening right now.  TJMaxx is an awesome place to find ornaments and other cool elements for your tree and they have a whole bunch of stuff online, so you don’t even have to go hunting through the store, (unless that’s your thing.)

Have you put your tree up yet?  Tell me how you decorated/are planning to decorate your tree!

**Huge thanks to King of Christmas for sending me this beautiful tree.  All opinions about it are my own.

My daughter has been begging me for a couple of years to get a flocked tree. I love them but I just think the white would get all over and that it wouldn’t stay nice while storing it after Christmas.
