velvet leggings. tee. sweater. similar boots.
I love going out and dancing the night away. But let’s be real. I love being with my family the most, which means most New Years eve’s involve staying home and having a little party with our kids, and any family that might be visiting. I still like to get dressed up, even if we’re just drinking hot cider from a crock pot and playing Settlers of Catan all night, but I still want to be comfy. I’m guessing since a lot of you are moms, you run into the same thing. You don’t exactly want to hang out in sweats all NYE but is there really a need to get so fancy that you can’t relax?
Enter one of my favorite trends this winter: velvet leggings.
I was slow to jump on this trend, and tried a few pairs that I didn’t love. But then I snagged this pair from (wait for it) Walmart, and I love them! They’re cute, super soft and comfy, and you will not believe the price. I love that I can dress them up or down depending on what the occasion calls for. I prefer not to spend too much on trendy pieces and instead pair them with higher priced versatile closet basics I will wear over and over through the years. And I have found this high/low combination actually works to elevate the lower priced items.
For this look, I paired the velvet leggings with a long neutral cardigan and this buttery soft drapey basic tee. I also think the black head to toe look with a long sweater really helps create the illusion of height, something I’m always looking to do! Walmart has really upped their game in the clothing department over the last couple years and I love the basics and trendy pieces they’re offering. I also love that I can find a great pair of name brand boots through Walmart’s premium brands. Did you know you can shop stores like Lord and Taylor, Lucky Brand, and Vince Camuto right through Walmart’s website? So if I want to grab a pair of name brand booties to pair with my velvet leggings that were a steal, I can do it all from one spot. You can also grab Frye, Kenneth Cole, and Vera Bradley handbags there as well., and there are tons of pretty velvet pieces in the premium brands, in case you’re feeling the trend.
