DIY glow serum

Hi guys, happy Wednesday!  I’m so excited to share this really simple DIY glow serum with you today.  I’ve been trying to share more wellness related topics with you on Wednesdays and I love this one because it’s so easy and it’s going to literally transform your skin.

First of all, let’s talk about why I love the glow serum.  One, it makes my skin so happy.  It has literally made such a difference on the overall look and appearance of my skin.  I haven’t had a breakout since I started using it, it’s brightened and tightened my skin, reduced the fine lines around my smile and even my aggressive forehead wrinkle from my over expressive brows.  It’s reduced the appearance of a couple age spots on my cheeks as well as a few scars from past stress breakouts.  I literally saw a difference the first time I used it, and the longer I use it, the better my skin gets.  The best part is, I can make it myself and a little goes a very long way.

I first became interested in oils because of the different household uses for them, especially the cleaning (I love me some thieves!).  But what I’ve become absolutely obsessed with are all the  beauty products I’ve been able to replace with these amazing oils.  And the stuff I’m making with them is clean and works better for me.  I’m also loving it now that I’ve got a few teenagers in my house.  Hannah’s been using all my expensive creams and serums for the last couple years as well, and we go through them so fast!  It gets pricey.  This glow serum has completely replaced my moisturizers, serums and face oils.  And it lasts forever, and Hannah uses it too.  To start, I wash my face with a charcoal cleansing bar (Young living carries one, and so does Beauty Counter here.)  Charcoal cleansing bars are amazing!  My teens and I all use it, and even Hannah has said how much of a difference it makes getting her pores clean.

Jojoba oil.

Okay, so to make this magical glow serum you’re going to need 3 essential oils: copaiba, frankincense and lavender. (Frankincense and Lavender come in the Young Living premium starter kit) The combination of these three essential oils does wonders for your skin.  Frankincense brightens skin, fights blemishes & promotes healthy and glowing skin, Lavender is amazing for skin it not only moisturizes, but is also antibacterial and can kill bacteria that penetrate your pores, it also helps reduce redness, blotchy patches, and acne scarring, and Copaiba helps eliminates scars and is an anti-inflammatory agent.  It is really important that you use only pure therapeutic grade essential oils, which is why I used Young Living.  With their seed tp seal promise it is literally the highest quality oil.

Here is what you do:

Put 30 drops each of Lavender, Copaiba and Frankincese into a 2 oz. amber glass dropper, (I get mine on Amazon here.) Fill the rest of the dropper with organic jojoba oil which you can get here . (Jojoba is a fantastic skin oil because it doesn’t clog pores.) Shake it up and drop about two-three drops onto your face.  Gently rub it into your skin and you’re done!   You can also make this in a 1 oz. dropper bottle, just use 15 drops of each of the oils.  That’s it!  So easy!

Two of these essential oils come in the starter kit which I explain more about here. And its easy to add Copaiba to your order as well.  The started kit is the best way to get started with essential oils, and the best value because you get 11 essential oils, a diffuser and a membership to Young Living which gives you 24% off everything they offer! We have pretty much switched most everything over   to non-toxic alternatives and I love that it’s all in one place, you can get everything from toilet scrubber, to laundry detergent, toothpaste, lotions, etc… I could go on, but I won’t.  You can pop over to my oil page to get more info if you’re interested, or you can follow more of my adventures with essential oils and other great natural hacks for everyday products over on my instagram page @corilivingwell.

Hi! I was wondering, since this becomes your almost all-in-one product: what do you use forever your eyes!?
So excited to try this. I’ve been on the path of essential oils for a few months myself and loved your post about the dryer balls!
    Thanks! :)

Do you use this twice a day, or only at night? What do you use during the day under makeup?

Morning and night! I use less in the morning, just a drop about 20 minutes before I start putting on my makeup. (Gives it time to absorb.) Then I use about 3 drops at night after washing my face! Hope this helps!
