Clawfoot tub hardware. c/o Signature Hardware.

The one thing I knew for sure when it came to designing our newly remodeled bathroom, was that I wanted a clawfoot tub, and I wanted said tub to be an authentic antique cast iron clawfoot tub.  I know, I ask so little.  So I set to work, visiting one antique shop, tag sale, and flea market after another looking for the perfect authentic, cast iron clawfoot tub.  It was a long process, these pieces are unicorns and not easily found.  But low and behold, after months of searching I found the diamond in the rough that is now our bathtub at a local flea market.  It needed a lot of TLC, but I saw the potential, so I bought it, and then called for backup to get it loaded into my SUV.  (This thing probably weighs 400 lbs.).

Once the bathroom plan was well under way, I started the task of figuring out how the heck to actually refinished this bathtub, which was no small feat.  I also started looking for beautiful hardware that would live up to the vision I had for this tub once she was restored to her former glory.  And that’s where I hit a major road-block.  It turns out, that not a lot of people make clawfoot tub hardware at all, let alone hardware that actually works on a true vintage clawfoot tub.  I knew I wanted our hardware to be classic and beautiful.  We needed this bath to also function as a shower (this is a working bathroom for a family of six, afterall) so we needed it to be a bath/shower combo, and most importantly, I wanted it to be well made.  Once again, I ask so little.

I will say, however, I was surprised given the resurgence in farmhouse style and how many people have embraced reclaimed and vintage trends, how few options there actually are out there for vintage inspired hardware.  Finding attachments that worked for the hole spacing on our tub was incredibly difficult, there just aren’t a lot of options out there.  I spent many, many hours online looking for and researching brands and hardware sets to incorporate into our bathroom.

This led me to Signature Hardware.

I reached out to the brand because I was so impressed with their product offering, the story behind their brand, and their customer service (they actually walked my husband through the process of connecting our supply lines, just above and beyond!) because I wanted to help spread the word about the brand to fellow lovers of the reclaimed, and people who appreciate and cherish the quality and timelessness that comes with classic designs, but who still want the function and convenience of the modern pieces.

We chose this amazing clawfoot tub/shower combination and I could not be more happy with it. It is absolutely the prettiest bathroom hardware I’ve ever seen.  The classic vintage design is exactly what I was looking for, and I LOVE all the thoughtful little design details.  And to be honest, it’s just a really nice piece to shower under.  It’s like being caught in a nice warm rainstorm.  And we all love it.

What I also love about Signature Hardware is that they they have literally all the hardware pieces you need to get your clawfoot tub completely outfitted and ready to run.  I didn’t have to go running all over the Internet trying to find all the different pieces and attachments.  Everything from the supply lines to the drain, to the shower ring, is all available in one convenient spot.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this brand with you all, especially for those of you who are thinking of switching out any of the sink or shower hardware in your home.  Signature Hardware carries a complete line of everything you need.  Definitely check them out first.

Happy Remodeling!

I (we) are planning a remodel of our only full bath (we’re a family of 5). I’ve always wanted a clawfoot tub, but I’m having some reservations about the practicality with 3 young kids. How are you finding it so far? I will be needing much of the same hardware, are you still loving after these few months have past? Is there anything you would change? Thanks so much for your input!!
