soft everyday waves tutorial.

henley top. similar Levi jeans. T3 curling iron.

One of the questions I get asked most often is, how I curl my hair, so I thought today I would share an updated soft everyday waves hair tutorial with you, since my method and the tools I use has evolved a bit over the last few years.

Start with dry straight hair.  I use this revlon styling dryer to get my hair to the perfect starting state.  Nice and smooth with straight ends.

Next, separate the hair into two parts: top and bottom halves, and pin the top half up.

I use a T3 1 1/4 curling iron to get these waves and I love it.  It’s a great curling iron, curls my hair super fast and smooth and is easy to use and lightweight.

Starting at the front, take about a 1 inch section of hair and holding the end, wrap it once around the curling iron, away from your face.

Lift the arm of the curling iron and hold the end so the hair corkscrews as you continue wrapping it around the barrel.

Leave about 1 inch of the end of the hair out of the curling iron, and lower the arm over the hair on the barrel.  Hold for 10-15 seconds and slowly release.

Repeat all around your hair, taking care to wrap curls opposite directions away from the face on each side.

Once the entire bottom layer is curled, take the top down and repeat the process on the top layer.

Run your fingers gently through the finished curls so they relax a bit and that’s it!

I’ve been wanting this kind of curler for so long now. It makes such pretty curls that can look so natural. Although I have a long bob, it’s still a bit short sometimes for me to do this kind of curls with my straighteners.
