september recap.

I cannot believe we are already at the end of September! This strange and trying year seems to be flying by, and also, somehow, March seems like a lifetime ago. What a bizarre time to be alive.

Lately around our house:

September, like the rest of this year was full of ups and downs for our little family, but the biggest up of all, was we got a horse!

Blog, meet Jocko.

Jocko is a sweet sorrel quarter horse gelding and we are all in love with him. He neck reins like a dream, has an easy sweet temper, and is so great with kids (and dogs). Everyone, including our golden is obsessed with him.

Besides our new horse, we’ve been doing some major renovation on our laundry/mudroom and our second set of stairs. It’s definitely a daunting project but we’re excited to be working on it.

The kids are all fully back in school (no remote learning at all), and they are thriving, all day masks and all. I am so happy to have our routine back and that my kids have been able to do well even in such a strange situation.

On the blog this month:

My 3 favorite infused water recipes.

4 ideas for transitioning summer pieces into fall.

Kids capsule tips and some cute fall capsule pieces from Target.

5 ways to style a fall t-shirt dress.

5 tips for bringing joy back into cooking.

Things I’m loving right now.

I’ve become addicted to listening to the classics via my apple podcasts app, and through Libby. Jane Austen is especially entertaining read aloud and since I’ve only ever read her works (never listened before) it’s been fun to experience them in a different way.

I know it’s almost October, not the new year, but fall always feels like a better time for a fresh start to me so if you are looking to get more organized this year, I am obsessed with this Blue Sky planner. It’s easy to map out my month as well as use the day sections for my daily lists. Very practical and convenient.

Blue Apron has been saving me this month. With my kids all going back to school and tons of work projects, business demands, house projects, and new farm animals, there is no way I would have been able to make dinner every night if BA wasn’t taking care of the recipes and the shopping. It’s so convenient and every meal is so good. Our favorite meals this month were: the spiced beef and bucatini pasta, the vegetable quesadillas, and the Ras El Hanout steak. If you want to try Blue Apron they gave me a discount for you all and you can get $60 off over your first 3 boxes by clicking here.
