summer capsule favorite: white dresses.

It’s been several years since I shifted the way I built my closet from wherever the wind blew me, to a less, but better capsule. Switching to a less but better approach had a massive effect on not just the ease and joy I feel getting dressed, but also on the effectiveness of my days. The great thing about focusing on a less, but better approach is that you learn really quickly the MVP pieces for your closet; the ones you’ll actually end up wearing over and over again. One of my favorite summer capsule pieces is the white dress. There are so many ways to style a white dress in the summer and they’re a classic so you can keep wearing them over and over again year after year.

Today I rounded up a bunch of great white dresses and am sharing a few easy ways to style them for summer. There are great options in every price range, from under $30 to mid-100’s. I don’t mind spending a bit more on a capsule piece I know I’ll wear over and over again, and I recommend investing in quality for pieces you’ll want to wear season after season. I hope you enjoy!

For the first outfit, I styled the white dress with sneakers. I love this trend that’s really gained steam over the last couple years, it’s a fun way to style a dress. For this one I paired the dress and sneakers with a great Clare V. belt bag that can be worn at waist or across the shoulder.

dress. denim jacket. bag. sandals. earrings.

This outfit is probably my most classic white dress pairing. Just some great neutral sandals a matching brown bag, denim jacket and some great earrings. Perfect for a night out.

This outfit pairing has a bit of a sporty feel to it, I paired the white dress with Madewell shoes and accessories, and my favorite Brixton hat. This hat has been my go-to for the last 4 summers, it’s great for travel and super versatile.

I love this casual outfit idea, especially because it incorporates these great huarache sandals and some of my favorite Hat Attack pieces. Throw on those great gold statement earrings and you’re ready to go.

This last outfit idea is another casual styling for the dress with some comfy platform sandals and a great crossbody bag. I kept the jewelry simple because the shoes and the bag really do the talking. The dress as always provides the perfect foundation for building a fun look.

I’ve been working for years to simplify my life using a – less is more / only my favs stay / I know my style and appreciate others but only buy mine – approach. But, I feel I still have a lot of clothes hanging in my closet. Do you have any resources or suggestions to narrowing down and creating a really hard working wardrobe that doesn’t get old day in and day out?
