I first used the Ikea antilop high chair when Ava was a baby and 9 years later, it’s stood the test of time. 5 kids in, and it’s my favorite high chair we’ve ever used. Super affordable and easy to clean, it’s got a low profile that tucks neatly into any corner and doesn’t take up much space. It’s a great high chair.
It’s two major flaws: it doesn’t have a footrest (important for babies learning to eat), and it’s a little basic.
Luckily, there are some very clever people out there, like Yeah Baby Goods that offer a bunch of accessories that make it super easy to give the Ikea Antilop high chair a real glow-up.
I discovered Yeah Baby Goods by chance a few years ago when we were trying to get pregnant with Finn, and I knew if I was ever blessed with another baby, I would use their products on my all-time favorite high chair.
Here’s what I added to our Ikea Antilop high chair to make it better:
Footrest
This was the most important accessory to add, because a footrest is crucial to a baby safely learning to eat. It helps them balance and learn the proper sitting position for eating. The I chose the walnut footrest, because it best matches the darker wood tones in our house and it’s really beautiful. They offer the footrests in several wood finishes.
Cushion and cover
A cushion is also important for proper positioning as it keeps baby from slumping to the side and helps him lean slightly forward to eat. Yeah Baby Goods makes lots of great cushion covers in super cute prints. I chose their white faux leather cushion cover because it’s simple and wipeable.
Leg Wraps
This one is purely aesthetic but I love how it transforms the entire look of the high chair. The leg wraps are easy to apply and really make the high chair look so much nicer. I went with the walnut leg wraps that match the footrest I bought.
Silicone Placemat
Adding a silicone placemat was for both looks and practicality. It adds a little color to the high chair and makes clean up super easy.
Overall I am super happy with all of the Ikea Antilop accessories from Yeah Baby Goods, the quality is great and I love how they’ve made an already awesome high chair even better.
