It’s that point in February where it’s freezing cold and there’s still snow on the ground outside but I’m starting to dream about blossoming flowers, warm sunshine, and fresh crisp air. Spring is on the horizon, and it’s the perfect time to start prepping for the new season by putting together a spring capsule.
I built my first capsule wardrobe back in 2018 and I’ve never looked back. It started as an experiment after I used a small capsule to pack for our 3-week trip to Europe and found myself feeling happier and more confident in my clothes than I had maybe ever. What I didn’t expect was that it would stick, except it 100% did.
At this point I doubt I’ll ever go back to not using a capsule. Using a capsule wardrobe makes it so easy for me to get dressed everyday, I never waste time trying to figure out what I’m going to wear anymore, and I always feel confident in what I’m wearing because everything in my closet is a winner for me. I love that having a capsule means I’m consuming less but getting so much more out of my clothes. Also, my closet stays tidy and organized which is a huge win for me.
I’m a big believer in creating systems for the things you have to do everyday; this is how I have majorly reduced my stress as a mother. Having a system for my closet that makes getting dressed easy is one of my most impactful systems.

I don’t use a strict 30 items or less capsule, I have what I call a “capsule foundation” that I work from season to season. Each new season I’ll assess what my needs are, usually add a few new items, and remove things that are no longer working. Most of my capsule is made up of versatile neutrals and then I add in 1-2 accent colors and a few fun pieces, to keep me creative and make getting dressed fun. Below you’ll find this year’s spring capsule wardrobe. Most of the items I already own/are part of my capsule foundation, but I did rotate in a few new pieces this season like these fun barrel jeans, and a pretty green floral top. My accent colors this season are a pretty spring green and warm gold/brown.
TOPS: breton striped tee. fitted ribbed tee. white pointelle tee. green henley. chambray button-up. brown striped button-up. green floral block-print top. white henley tee.
Bottoms: barrel jeans. levi’s ribcage straight jeans. Quince linen pants. Black wide-leg trousers. Tan wide-leg trousers.
Dresses/Skirts: Block Print dress. Tan Shirt dress. Similar Floral skirt.

The real magic of a capsule is in the ease of styling so below you’ll find 40 outfits made out of just the 25 items in my spring capsule. And that’s just a start, I can think of so many more ways to style these items and that’s the joy of using a capsule, it’s just endless creativity. I have so much more fun with my clothes now that I use a capsule.
Are you recommending the barrel jeans? If so, which one exactly is good for petite
You’re right. We’re done growing (except for maybe sideways sometimes) so a nice capsule wardrobe with high quality staples is the way to go.
I so badly want to take the leap and buy a dress like the block print one from the Etsy store! I just can’t do it. Being petite also, but pear shaped, nothing ever fits me right. Their dresses are so pretty. You have a talent for choosing colours that look good on you. I love so many of the prints, but would it actually look good on me in person? Ack! I’m an in person tryer-oner.
