Buffalo Check Shirt: H&M. (also love this and this.) Jeans: Nordstrom. Boots: Nordstrom. Bag: H&M. (similar here.) Belt: Loft. Jacket: H&M. (last year. Similar here.) Sunglasses: Kate Spade. (similar here.)
When I spotted this buffalo check shirt online, it just said “Pacific Northwest” to me. I had to order it. I’m glad plaid is pretty much always in style in the fall because I really love wearing cozy flannels during the colder months in the Emerald City. They just fit perfectly with our foggy, wet weather. When I first moved here 4 years ago, I told Craig the over-arching style I noticed was lumber-jack granola, and that everyone here was in love with The North Face. The people in Seattle are my favorite. Because nature is so infused with the city-life, (I promise you’ve never seen so many evergreens in/around a city) this outdoorsiness becomes a real part of the culture. I love it.
One of my favorite spots in the Puget Sound is up in Mukilteo at the ferry landing that takes you over to Whidbey Island. Whidbey itself is beyond beautiful and a favorite spot for my family, but the ferry landing with it’s old green and white lighthouse, Ivar’s right on the water, long beach of PNW tide pools, and old coastal houses is worth seeing all on it’s own. A cozy flannel really hits the spot, especially layered with a field jacket, because it’s always about 10 degrees cooler right by the water.

Shall We Sasa
I love the outfits with the plaid flannel type shirts. Haven’t had one since the 90s, but I think it is time to go back. Bought a jacket like the one you have on there this year and so glad I did. People say we in the NE love The North Face also. I’m not sure if the prevailing style is outdoorsy granola, but that sounds nice.
I agree with you about plaids, especially this season there is an abundance of really nice plaids! Do you mind posting what size the H&M plaid shirt is and how the fit is compared to Jcrew button ups? Thank you!
I ordered a size 2 (smallest size) I found it to be a bit roomier than JCrew’s button-ups.
