I’ve worn glasses since high school, but I’m kind of a giant slacker when it comes to my eye sight, i.e. renewing my prescription, or wearing my glasses in general. My husband’s eyesight is really bad; he can’t see beyond 4 inches past his face, which has always made my slight near-sightedness and astigmatism seem silly. And I’ve never made my vision a priority. Side note: this is reminding me of a Brian Regan skit. “I don’t have time to see…” (Google it and thank me later.)
Anyway, last year it started getting harder to read things and then I started seeing a floating speck in one of my eyes (which majorly freaked me out) so I decided to head into my optometrist and see what the deal was. It turns out floating specks aren’t actually a big deal. Although they’re annoying as heck and there’s supposedly no way to get rid of them. (As in they never go away.) If somebody knows of a cure please fill me in, because I’m not loving the floating speck forever in my eye thing.
So besides the speck, my eyesight had gotten a bit worse and my doctor suggested I get myself a new pair of glasses.
This is the part where I look around the office at what they had and every pair of frames was just kind of meh, blah, outdated, or hideous.
Finding glasses that work for me is hard enough even when the frames are stylish, so I asked for my prescription and opted to look elsewhere. I’d heard of Warby Parker a few years ago but I’ve always been hesitant about ordering glasses online. I mean how do you pick a pair without trying them on?
So I went to their website and looked around. It’s got a great clean aesthetic that’s easy to navigate, which I love. You can search for frames by color, shape, width, etc. And it’s not overly cluttered, so it’s easy to find what you want. This is a side note, but I also really like the story behind the brand (cool people doing cool things, basically). They have eyeglasses for men and women and a great line of sunglasses as well. And as I was browsing around their website I learned that they’ve got an awesome at-home try on program. Basically, you pick out your 5 favorite frames and they’ll send you samples to try on. You can snap pictures and get second opinions, then once you’ve decided you send them back and order your frames to your prescription.
So simple, but brilliant!
There are so many great frames at Warby Parker it took me awhile to narrow it down to five, and once they got here, they did not disappoint. I loved the styles, the fit was good and they’re all great quality. The only problem is, I’m having trouble picking a pair!

#4 if going w all dark frames but #1 is my favorite bc they are lil different from what you see on everyone right now.

#4>#1>#3>#2>#5. I slight curve in the top is super flattering and allows your eyes to be seen a bit better. I agree with another commenter that #1 is also great, because they’re a bit unique without being too flashy.
