best purchases of 2016.

One of the things I love most about writing this blog is sharing the great stuff I find with you and having you share great stuff with me.  It takes all the guess work out of shopping, and I think it’s just really fun.  Like having a bunch of girlfriends to go shopping with.

I thought it would be fun to round up my very best purchases of 2016.  You know, the favorite products I got that I not only love love love, but would totally buy again.

So here goes, 20+ of the best purchases of 2016.

First up shoes!  I am a major shoe lover and these 4 were the best of the year.

Rockstud flats.  These are a dupe of the Valentino pair (at $100 they are a fraction of the price.)  I love them so much and it turns out the shoe is just as fabulous/goes with everything just like I thought it would and I get so many compliments every time I wear them.

Adidas sneakers.  Why didn’t I buy these sooner?!  They are the best sneaker ever, perfect for the athleisure trend, and so comfy.  They run big so size down at least 1/2  a size.

Cutout booties.  I wasn’t sure if I would love these, but once they arrived I was completely smitten.  They go with everything and are so comfy right out of the box.

Peep-toe booties.  Peep toe booties were a huge trend last summer and fall and I loved this pair I snagged.  I got them in Olive, but I really want to add the black pair to my closet as well.

See how I styled each of these below:

blazershirtcoat. jeans. bag. (similar.) shoes.(designer version here.) sunglasses.

Coat. (also comes in red!) SweaterScarf. (under $20) HatBootsBag.

Top. Jeans. (best black jeans ever, and under $60!) Shoes. Trench.BagSunglassesBraceletBraceletWatchNecklace.

Sweater.(also similar here.) JeansTopBagBooties(also similar here.). NecklaceSunglasses.

Next up, jeans!

Rag and Bone skinnies.  It took me a long time to invest in a pair of jeans this expensive.  Now I wish I had just held out on a few of the $75 jeans and just bought this pair to begin with.  They are so great and I’m totally sold on Rag and Bone.  I love the fit, the denim is really good, sucks you in- in all the right places but it’s not too tight, and this pair is a really great length for petites.  I still need to have mine hemmed but it’s a lot less than I normally do.  If you’re ready to invest in some high price jeans, I totally recommend this pair.

White jeans/ Black jeans.  These are both Articles of Society brand from Nordstrom and they are amazing and under $70.

See how I styled each of them below:

Coats, coats, coats!

Vail Parka.  Best coat decision of the year, so classy and I get so many compliments on it.  Comes in Petites which is a great fit for me, and it’s really reasonably priced.  They gray is sold out right now, but I really want to add the red version to my closet as well. (It’s only $107 right now.)

Skiing Parka: bought this last January and wore it almost the whole time we were in Utah and Idaho for the holidays.  I have no idea how they made this coat so extremely warm and also not bulky but it is an amazing coat.

Schoolboy Blazer.  J.Crew Factory does it again.  under $100 such a great deal, great quality, arms aren’t too tight.  I’m definitely getting it in black too.

Coat: Nordstrom. Boots: Sorel kids. (adult option here and here.) Sweatshirt: Banana Republic. Leggings: Nordstrom (best leggings ever) Hat: Gap. Gloves: Scott. (similar here.)Pom Beanie: Gap. (similar here.)

blazershirtcoat. jeans. bag. (similar.) shoes.(designer version here.) sunglasses.

I think about my handbags for a long, long time before I commit to buying and these are the ones I grabbed in 2016 that I don’t know how I ever lived without.

Tory Burch tote.  I think every girl should have a congac tote and this is by far the best and at a reasonable price.  I call this my magic back and it is so perfect for traveling.  Great quality and can haul a serious load (think laptop).

Black Kate Spade bag. I spent probably 4 months looking for just the right black shoulder bag before settling on this Kate Spade one.  I obsessed about it until it arrived, worried I’d picked the wrong one, but it is perfect and I love it.  The size is perfect and it’s nice and structured, and like all my Kate Spade bags, it’s so, so pretty!

Clare V. Leopard Clutch.  I waiting a long time to buy this clutch and now that I have it, I don’t know what I used to do when I went out without it.  It’s goes with everything and it’s the perfect statement clutch.

See how I styled them below:

Skirt. (my design. similar here.) Sweater.(similar.) Heels: Payless. (c/o) ClutchSunglassesCoat. Similar Necklace.

Long Cardigan.(also similar here.) Shirt. (also have/love this one.) Jeans. (Rag and Bone distressed version in store.) Bag.(new favorite.) Similar ShoesScarf. Similar Necklace.

skirt. (sold out. similar here and here.) top. boots. (similar.) coatbagtightssunglasses.

Daniel Wellington watch.  This is the best/prettiest every day watch.  I want it in brown too.

Kate Spade initial necklace.  I’ve been putting these in gift guides for years and I finally got one for Christmas this year.  It’s so pretty I’ve been wearing it since I opened it.

Ray-ban sunglasses.  These are the bet universal sunglasses.  they look great on everyone and they are so lightweight.  Wish I had bought a pair much sooner.

See how I styled them below:

CC Cream and Brush:  I cannot say enough good things about this CC Cream.  It is the best stuff I’ve tried in forever.  I’ve seen huge improvement in my skin, it’s so smooth and I’ve had almost no breakouts since I started using it.  The brush makes it go on like an airbrush makeup job.

Tula Illuminating face serum.  Holy glow Amazing.  You’ll see a difference the first time you use it.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Nior Mascara.  My friend recommended this to me after I was griping about not being able to find a decent mascara that went on nice and didn’t irritate my allergy prone eyes.  I hesitatd to try it because it’s the most expensive mascara I’ve ever bought, but it is amazing.  It goes on so pretty, makes my lashes look longer and fuller, doesn’t clump, doesn’t smudge, doesn’t irritate my eyes at all (miracle) and it lasts forever.

Formula X nail polish.  Best polish brand I’ve ever tried.  Period.  Goes on smooth, dries fast, lasts way longer.

Too Faced Melted lipcolor.  Such a good alternative to thick lipstick every day.  If lipstick and lipgloss had a baby this would be it, and I love how smooth it is and just give me enough color. (I wear melted Chihuahua) See lip color below:

mascara.

nail polish.

 tula illuminting serum.

CC Cream. brush.

So there you have it!  My best purchases of 2016!

What are some of yours?

  1. A great collection of items here. One I did not see but want to thank you for, is the Vince Camuto cage peep toe booties in cognac. I saw them on you and read your review that they were comfy and picked up a pair for myself. Indeed they were perfection right out of the box, a great recommendation, thanks!
