insta-what?

So what is the deal with Istagram?  Mr. told me last night that the instagram powers-that-be have been randomly deleting people’s accounts for not strictly posting via the insta-camera.  Sheesh, I hope they don’t find me because I’m a total insta-delinquent and I don’t want all those pictures of my littles erased…
Also, I was thumbing through my feed yesterday morning and I saw one of the people I follow had posted a picture of their husband and baby on a bike.  It got like 230 heated comments!  I was like, “I don’t get how this is a controversial picture in the slightest.”  I mean.  It’s a dad on a bike, for crying out loud.  And then I wondered how people have the time to get so intense about other people’s lives.  I’m just trying to get my own crap together, I have no idea what anyone else should do with their life.  Also, I can think of about a billion better things to do than write heated comments on someone else’s instagram picture, but that’s just me.  And I guess that’s just social media, and social media is weird, isn’t it?  Because you get this little slice of someone else’s life and you make judgments based on that, but really you don’t have the whole story.  And I mean, we don’t really have anyone’s whole story, do we?  The only story we really have in full is our own.  That’s what I thought about all day.  Giving people a break, because whoa, I have no idea where they might be coming from…

Also.  These yellow pants make my legs look short.  I mean, my legs actually are short but I’m not sure if I want to emphasize that… if you know what I mean.

On the other hand, there are very few people out there with a perfect body, and I’m definitely not one of them, and maybe it’s cool to just own that.

So here goes, I’m owning my short legs.

And while I’m at it, I might as well throw in my flat chest, because seriously though.

And with that, I will now end the most random post of the century.

It’s Friday, go have yourself a party!

  2. I’ve been saying this same thing but about Facebook. How do people have the right to be so judgmental about a person or a family they hardly know? Social media has given people the idea that they have a right to judge others publicly. Its rather sad. Love your yellow pants!

Ha! My instagram account totally got cancelled last night with no warning b/c I “violated” their terms of service. And all I post are knitting & sewing pictures!! But today it was back up… Maybe since they got bought out by Facebook they have gotten a little more picky/lessfreedom of speech/picture supporting??

  12. Hmmm, the pants are really happy and your legs look proportionate to your small self!
I typically only feel compelled to criticize someone via social media if s/he is being a bully. And I still try to be kind in pointing out that s/he made a jerk move.

I know this is super personal, but I’ve been dying to order some of those Gap pants that are on sale, but I really don’t know what size to get. I’m typically a zero-ish; I have curves but I like my pants fitted. Anyway, do they run large at all? Thoughts would be appreciated.

They are pretty fitted. These are a double zero which is the size I usually wear and they fit nice and snug.

I want to get yellow pants. Either true yellow like that, or a mustard-ish/greenish. I’d also like some yellow shoes, or shoes with a yellow accent.

I will probably never have children, but one thing I have learned is that if I do, I think I will try to hide/conceal every little thing I do for/with the children and just how I parent in general so that no one will have anything to say about it. People seem to have a lot of strong opinions about how other people parent and I don’t want anything to do with that. I don’t think I could handle criticism like that.

It is strange how people think that you should try really really, really hard to hide things about yourself that are kind of obvious…like your height.

  17. I love your chambray & yellow combo! And I was worried about the whole insta-camera thing, so I googled it. Turns out it’s a hoax:

  19. I actually JUST bought a pair thanks to the sale. I’m also short (5’0″ to be exact) and when I tried them on and showed my boyfriend, his reaction was “They make you look short…er.” FAIL. But, I loved them so much that I still bought them. I figured heels will make it work.

  23. You are adorable and the pants are great. They do not make you look short, maybe not taller, but not shorter either. As for the Insta thing, I saw that whole debacle, too, and it made me so sad. Why in the world would people want to get into that kind of stuff and criticize everyone someone else does? It got so mean and it made me wonder what gives anyone the right to judge? One of my favourite quotes is “Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is facing some sort of battle.” I think it is so true and good words to live by :)
