that first decade.

Hello darlings.  Did you have a smashing lover’s day?

We celebrated ours by throwing a V-day party for the littles.  I tried to decorate the table all cute, as any self-respecting pinterest mom would.  I even made a cake.  It didn’t taste very good and was a little lopsided, but I’ve discovered that if you put enough cream cheese frosting on anything you can make it edible.  And because my children and Mr are easily impressed, it was pretty much a success.  Also, I will use any excuse to eat on that super awesome table Mr. built.  Man I love that thing.  Ten people could tap dance on top of that puppy and it would just keep smiling back.  I know right where I’m going if there’s ever an earthquake.

(Weird side note: growing up in California they’re always preparing you for some horrible earthquake that may someday occur.  You know, frightening the bejeebies out of elementary school children and all that.  So now, as an adult I have this weird semi-subconscious habit of thinking about where I would duck and cover in any given situation should the ground begin to quake.  I’m a weirdo.)

Anyways, the “party” pretty much involved eating Little Caesars pizza with some Martinelli’s, opening gifts, and watching Tangled.  I know, look out.

The night ended with a message from my baby sister letting us know that she got engaged.

I decided that a diamond ring pretty much trumps anything else anyone got.  You win this year Heather.  Also, I keep thinking you’re still eleven, when in the heck did you grow up??

In all seriousness, I’m so happy for her, she found a really nice guy who loves her just as she is.  And really can you ask for anything better than that?

I want to grab all single women and tell them to pretty please pick the nice guy over every other kind.  They’re the ones you’re still crazy about ten years later.

Just ask me.

I told Mr. not to get me anything, but he still brought me roses (good boy).

Ten crazy years together and we still got it.

;-)

Now I’m off to bed.  That first decade was exhausting.
