I have a confession. I have bought 5, I repeat 5 dresses from Gap in the past month and a half. And none of them are maternity. The last time I was with child, Gap was pretty much my savior, but I stuck to the maternity section. For some fortuitous reason they’ve come out with the most amazing, belly friendly non-maternity frocks this summer, so I’ve happily added several pieces to my wardrobe that I won’t have to chuck in the “I wore that when I was pregnant and never want to see it again” pile, as soon as this new little makes her appearance in the world. This chambray maxi is one of the five and I’m just kind of in love with it. I mean it has pockets.
Po-ckets.
So here they are. My super secret maternity survival tips:
Gap dresses and ice cream.
Lots and lots of ice cream…
Dress: Gap. Cardi/Sunnies: Loft. Belt: Downeast Basics. Watch: JC Penney. Bracelets: Forever21. Bag: Michael Kors (similar here.) |
I know, my brilliance must just shock and amaze you.

Love the dress on you, the simplicity of it will make it versatile for future pairings.

Cute dress! Banana Republic has some great dresses as well that are not maternity but easily work for both non-maternity and maternity clothing!!!
Maxis have been my best friend this pregnancy too! This chambray one from Gap is perfect! I hope they still have it in stock. :)
I tried buying a chambray shirt dress from Forever 21 and while I was not pregnant it was perfect now the belly is growing and it just does not fit the same. You look adorable! God Bless.

I love that you are able to shop in the “regular” section! My question is… Will you have to alter these dresses when you are no longer pregnant? I think I might have to try this for my next pregnancy because all my maternity clothes are in a pile and I would be happy to never look at them again!
I know that this past summer I’ve bought a few dresses from the Gap. They are amazing and very versatile. Glad you found dresses that you will be able to continue wearing after you have your baby. I found that frustrating when I was pregnant with my son finding great maternity clothes and not being to wear them afterward. Enjoy your ice cream!!!

I’m not pregnant, but I couldn’t help but notice that many of my clothes (mainly maxis and skirts) would work well for when I do get pregnant. What can I say? I love super comfy clothing :)

That’s such a great idea…to find clothes you will like even post-pregnancy! Thanks for sharing ;).
You look wonderful, as always.
Gap, Inc. has been saving my life for years. Even though we sometimes have a love/hate relationship.
Lovely! Thats a fun dress!
Cori as always you are absolutely gorgeous! I have to ask, do you color your hair or is this your natural color? Would love to know !!
Thanks so much
Love that dress! So cute!
I still have two Gap silk dresses (not maternity) that I bought to wear while pregnant (over 4 years ago) that I still love. They too have pockets and I think I paid about $10 each for them on clearance. ;) Gap is awesome.
You beautiful pregnant gal. Lovely as always.

I have discovered the same thing about Gap. I discovered your blog through Sydney’s daybook blog. I’m 18 weeks prego and I have bought several things (non-maternity) at Gap this summer. I am normally not a Gap shopper, but there is something about it and being pregnant. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. :) The chambray dress looks adorbs on you. I tried the same one on and it made me look like a balloon. Happy pregnancy!
Gap has some really great pieces right now and you look amazing in that chambray dress! Also, Ive been eating tons of ice cream, but Im not pregnant….ooops.

I completely agree…I am 14 weeks pregnant and Gap is my new best friend. :) The dresses are very flattering and comfortable. You look adorable!
P.S. Would you mind to divulge the name of your MK bag? I am dying to have one like it (and am saving up), but would love to know the style name for reference. Thanks so much!
