Dress: Anthropologie via Ebay. Sweater: Downeast Basics. Belt: Target. Shoes: TJMaxx. |
I spotted this dress in real life a couple months ago and I thought about it ever since. Even knowing it was long gone off the racks from Anthropologie (probably last summer), I couldn’t let it go. We were meant to be, this dress and me, I just knew it. Then I saw it again on Pinterest (be still my heart), and I went on the hunt.
Normally Ebay kind of annoys me. Especially during those Jason Wu for Target type debacles where people buy out the whole store and then sell it for 8 times more than they bought it on Ebay.
Also, I hate having to wait for the auction to end. Blah blah, I want to just win it now, not in 4 days 17 hours…
But.
When you fall in love with a very particular yellow dress that has strips of fabric and grosgrain ribbon sewn across it as stripes, and it’s got a really lovely empire waist so I can wear it whilst pregnant and after, and also lovely side seam pockets…
And then you can find it a year after it was on the racks, brand new with tags still on it, and in a size 0…
Ebay suddenly becomes the most brilliant invention of all mankind.
And I think you should know, I totally outbid some other chicky for this dress, and on my phone no less, while out to dinner with Mr. and the littles.
Take that, Ebay bidder!
You’ve got to have a little ninja assassin in you, if you want to prevail on Ebay.
And really at life in general.
But back to the dress.
This baby makes me look way more pregnant than I really do actually look, but that’s fine by me. For the first time in church yesterday people stopping looking at me like I’ve just gotten tubby in the middle and started asking me if I was excited about my new little one. Since I’m really getting beyond the ability to mask it, I’m thinking bump emphasizing clothing is where it’s at for me right now.
And this dress is so sunny and lovely, it makes me feel like I’m on my way to tea and crumpets.
You know, if I drank tea.
Which I don’t.
And any piece of clothing that makes me feel like that is worth every penny.
I think you are the cutest pregnant lady I’ve ever seen! Love the dress!
I love your outfit! And I know what you mean, I hate waiting for it to end.
Congratulations on welcoming a new lovely dress home.

i actually just grabbed a striped dress yesterday – great minds think alike! you look stunning :)
Great find! I wore one of my new Corilyn skirts to church yesterday and got four compliments on it! Maybe you need to include business cards in your shopping packages :) I’ve just started hunting stuff down on eBay and I’m a fan. Just ordered/won the ninja face-off for a cute Anthro dress from last year too. Now if I could learn to sell things…
Mary,
I’m so glad! I bet you looked amazing! And great idea, I should include business cards. I will get right on that!
Your work is perfect! I’m so glad I ordered them!
I so so loved this dress on you yesterday. It is sheer perfection!! My mom is totally an eBay Ninja. I get annoyed. But, I like when she shares her loot!!

Love the dress! The shape the yellow stripes – it is so cheerful and pretty on you! ;)
I don’t think you could possibly be more radiant! You look beautiful and I love this outfit.
I hope you continue to feature baby bump pictures! I am not far behind you in my first pregnancy and am already feeling gross when it comes to finding clothes. I would love it if you could include a post giving tips to us pregnant ladies on what to buy and how to dress as cute as possible–all on a budget! My husband is a grad student so needless to say I’m looking for cheap. Looking forward to more posts! You look darling!
Amy,
good idea! I know it’s so hard not to feel yucky. I’m always telling Mr. “I feel like an umpa lumpa!”
Love the dress! You look lovely Cori! :)
Came back to check if there was a reply, but my initial post got eaten up…? Anyhoo, wanted to say how cute the dress was, and wondered if you’re finding out if your baby is a boy or girl?!
Sarah,
Thanks! And to answer your question, yes. (In fact, I already know what it is…) Due to some complications I had to have several ultrasounds so we found out a few weeks ago. I’ll be announcing it soon… ;-)
Ooops – I hope I didn’t press the issue, then! I’ll stay tuned…
Sarah, no worries. It’s not a huge secret, I am just waiting till the 20 week ultrasound so it’s a little more sure before I announce it the whole of the internet world…
Oh my word — that dress looks so cute on you! When buying Anthropologie dresses, do you go for 0 regular or 0 petite? I have had luck with regular size 0 when it is a designer like Maeve for Anthro, but others are sometimes huge! So hard to know!
Typically, I lean towards petite (when they carry them) for the length and also the bust. The length on this dress is just perfect and (thanks to my prego chest) I’m filling out the bust just fine.
Gotta love the prego chest :) My chest is how shall we say . . . depleted? haha Maybe a padded bra can come to the rescue!
You are looking super cute in all of your clothes and making being prego super glam!!
Cori, Are you So excited maternity clothes now at Loft.com. It’s as if they knew you are prego.
What a great dress~!
i love that youre pregnant and wearing a size 0,,, haha not even fair!
Lovely dress! What a lucky find on eBay! :)
You’re so cute sissy… I can hardly stand it. Miss u. Miss u. Miss u.
Sooooo cute! You AND the dress. :)
This is such a cute blog and you have great style!! Love the shoes! You look so put together. I don’t know where you find your stuff. Find it so hard to find dresses and skirts. So happy a new modest boutique is opening near me empresscouture.com They’re going to offer a lot of modest options!
I’m so glad this dress found its way to you, it really was meant for you and that beautiful bump. The belt is adorable too!
I love when mommies show off their pregnant bellies. Just gorgeous, and I’m a bit envious that even at pregnant you are wearing a size 0. Seriously, you look lovely.
SOOO beautiful. the dress and your bump (and you).
Oh my goodness, you are too cute. Also, I told my husband the other day that when I hit my goal weight I want an Awning Skirt. :)
Sooo cute!!!
so i’m just going to copy all of your maternity looks and found a native birds dress online!
