And I obsessed over every single stitch of that skirt.
Silently thanking my Grandma Dot over and over in my head for those all those sewing lessons, and for making me practice again and again until I could sew a straight line.
Before long, I was sewing skirts all the time. Late into the night I’d work my little fingers to the bone, sewing lovely skirts for as many lovely ladies as I possibly could.
After a while, it wasn’t so scary.
But I still obsessed over every stitch.
And I still wished I could make a skirt for everyone that wanted one.
It was a vain wish. There weren’t enough hours in the day, and my little hands couldn’t work fast enough.
And then, Mr. gave me an idea.
Another way of looking at it;
at myself, if you will.
In a way I had never thought to look at myself before.
And I sort of fell in love with the idea right then and there.
And a little dream was born.
So besides spending the last several months growing my new little,
I have been working feverishly on my “other” baby.
And guess what?
It sort of terrifies and thrills me all at the same time.
But I’m okay with that.
Because I’m loving every minute of this new little journey.
Even if I’m navigating it one step at a time.
And still obsessing over every stitch.
So today I’m happy to introduce you to my new little indie label:
I hope you enjoy.
First design available:
The Awning Skirt.
(with a few new improvements)
more lovely pieces following soon.

If I didn’t already have the red beauty I’d really be dying right now! Of course, I wouldn’t say no to the green one, because it’s pretty gorgeous as well. I love the addition of the button!
Wow! Congratulations!! I have a birthday coming up and your skirt is going to the top of my list!!! They are all beautiful and your are amazingly talented. :)
I wish I could afford the blue one! I am sure they take a long time to make and there are other costs involved not just the time it takes, but I do remember when they were more reasonable at $52.
Honestly, fabric is so expensive now that I really don’t find the $115 to be that unreasonable. Plus, the time of course. That is the thing about doing things handmade. If you take away the cost of materials and then divide the remaining cost by the number of hours it takes her I bet her per hour profit is pretty low.
Congratulations!!! These skirts are precisely why I started reading your blog a few months ago. I saw them on Pinterest and nearly died! They’re so beautiful. I really wish you could have seen the excitement on my face when I saw this post on Facebook. I’d been not-so-patiently waiting on the message that I could order some from you on Etsy, but this is so much better! And I can share it with my friends :) Now I just have to diligently remind my broke-college-student-self that I have money to save up and buy one (or two)! ;) Thank you, and good luck with your exciting new adventure! I have the feeling you’ll do wonderfully!
So exciting for you! I bought the blue and white one a couple of months ago :) If you see any cute tops out and about that would be adorable with it, please let me know! I’m so excited to wear it. I have a gazillion cardigans — but the back of the cardi kind of puffed out too much over the back of the skirt. So I am on the quest for some adorable tops to tuck in with it:) You have such a talent!
I’m so excited! I’ve had my eye on this skirt ever since I started following your blog. I’m about to have a baby so this will be good motivation for me to get back into shape.

Way to go Cori! I am so jealous Grandma Dot taught you a thing or two about sewing… That’s something I definitely would love to pick up. Love and miss you! CONGRATS!
Expensive? Yes. Worth the price? You bet! You know what? I love having something to save for. This instant gratification world takes the excitement and pride out of saving up for something special and worthwhile. While I could certainly buy one now, our budget would be better served if I saved a bit here and there. That said, I can’t wait to get one of your skirts! They are so elegant, timeless, and classy. Plus it’s nice to support a fellow mom and her (adorable) family!
I ordered it from a darling little site called: the sugar diva. they sell paper straws and a whole bunch of other fantastic things. But you can also get them at party stores, (I found out) They are a bit spendy, I think around 12 a balloon at the party store (including the helium) but really who doesn’t love a giant balloon. Here’s the website: http://www.thesugardiva.com/
I am in love with your blog, and just found it via pink peonies! I can not wait to buy your up and coming chevron skirt, and feature it on my blog. It is DARLING! Cant wait till it is available to buy!! Love your blog, new follower!
LOVE the second outfit! I would never think to pair mint with red/white stripes, but it looks amazing.
Those are awesome. Wish I had your talent.

Go girl! Love this/these skirts! Congrats to you m’dear!

$115?? that’s a little insane considering it doesn’t look like you’re doing custom sizes anymore… have they always been that much?
I am sure each skirt takes her hours…. Which means time away from her family …can’t put a price on that!
I wish I could afford the blue one!
