teeter-totter.

Sweater Dress: Loft (on sale here). Trench Vest: Old Navy (here) Boots: Aldo.  Scarf: Loft.  Necklace: Vintage. Bag: Ross.

Yesterday’s weather was just weird.

As I mentioned earlier we woke up to snow,  by one o’clock it had pretty much melted into rain.  Then around 4 it looked like a blizzard outside again. (Hello, it’s March!) And by the time Mr. walked in the door from work at 5:15 the sun was shining like it was some glorious spring day.

When the sun comes out in Seattle after several days of cruddy weather in a row, you take advantage of it.

Even if it only lasts an hour.

Which consequently it did.

One of my favorite spots in all of Seattle is this charming beach park just 10 minutes down the road from where we live.  Right on the shore of Lake Washington, there are boat docks, an Ivers (world’s best clam chowder– like whoa.), a park for the kids to play at, and lots of paths to walk on.  Plus there are some odd looking, but highly artistic (I’m sure) statues of people walking that sort of look like the blue people on Avatar.  A little culture with our fresh air and sunshine.  Double bonus.

Anyways, it’s kind of our go-to when we want to “go somewhere” and just be outside.

So we were walking around on the dock looking at the mini sailboats lashed up all in a row. It was so cold, and the dock was wet and rather slippery.

Ethan was walking around a few feet in front of me in his little rubber rain boots.  His hands were shoved way into the pockets of his coat.  Then he slipped, and sort of went tumbling forward in slow motion.  Except he couldn’t get his chubby little hands out of his coat pockets to catch himself, so he landed on his belly.  And since his hands were still stuck in his coat pockets, which were now trapped underneath him, he laid there, arms stuck, teetering on his tummy for a few seconds until Mr scooped him up.  He looked like a little teeter-totter, his feet and head bobbing back and forth, and saying, “I can’t get up.”

It was maybe one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

And I swear as long as I live, I will never forget it.

Happy Wednesday to you.

  2. OMGosh this story made me shiver just a little bit. When my oldest son Kaden was about 7, he was outside with a friend on my mom’s deck made of those slabs of rocks. It was cold out and the rocks were icy so the boys were just kind of slipping on the ice a little bit. My son had his arms inside his coat because it was cold. He slipped. He ended up with 13 stitches in his forehead. Worst. Day. Ever. I still think I was more scared than he was!

Love this sleeveless trench Cori! I’ve been wanting one foreva-eva. And it looks great with this striped dress! Glad Ethan is ok!

13 stitches! That’s terrible. Luckily Ethan just kind of slowly tipped over. I don’t think he would have fallen past his knees if he had had his hands to balance him. It was only cute because he wasn’t hurt at all. Thank goodness.

ps. the tench is awesome, and a really great price. Plus it’s super soft which basically just makes me happy.

  3. Aww, that reminds me of those little Russian doll stacker things when they fall over! Cute and funny hearing the story, only because he wasn’t hurt!

LOFT is addicting, huh? You and I should be getting paid for advertising for how much LOFT we wear ;)

Haha, that’s totally what it looked like. They’re called matryoshkas. We have a bunch of them around our house cause Mr. served his mission in Russia. The littles are obsessed with them.

And I am completely addicted to Loft. It’s my favorite store in the whole world. When we used to live in AZ I was in the store so often that the manager offered me a job. Haha. and kind of sad…

I am so glad you are enjoying Seattle. I used to live up the hill from that park when I was a kid and would ride my bike down to get lunch and play. I still take my kids to play there every once in awhile. In the spring we go for our annual turtle count. my kids love counting all the turtles stacked on the logs in the water.
