the opposite effect.

Pants: The Loft. Sweater: Target.  Jacket/Scarf/Umbrella: Ross. Shoes: Cents of Style.  Earrings: Gift.

I think dreary weather has the opposite effect on me than it has one most other humans, because the rain just makes me happy.
Which is good, since I live in Seattle.
Speaking of the opposite effect, I’ve always believed that wearing all black makes you look taller.  But I don’t look tall at all.  In fact, when I wear them with flats, I think these pants make my legs look rather short and stubby.
Which is definitely the opposite effect of what I’m going for.
I mean, I am short and stubby, but I certainly don’t want to look it.
By the way, the littles are off from school all week for their “mid-winter break,” whatever that means.  We certainly never had all these extra breaks growing up.  We got Christmas break and Spring break.  I don’t know what all this nonsense is about fall break, winter break, mid-winter break, spring break, etc etc…
Anyways, I don’t care what they call it, I’m thrilled to have the littles home with me all week.
We celebrated this morning by all sleeping in until 8:30.
eight-thirty.
That’s 3 hours later than I usually get up.
Do you know how much better you feel with 3 extra hours of sleep?
A lot better, that’s how much.
And by the way, I’m not goth, I just dress like it sometimes.

Happy Monday everyone.
I hope you’re loving it.

  1. I don’t think this outfit makes you look petite! I’ve come to terms with the fact that no matter what I wear, I’m never going to appear like I’m model tall when I’m 4’10” :)

  2. I agree with TinyHeart, when you are petite nothing can make you look like a model.. I know, I’m 4’11”, unfortunately I’m still trying to come to terms with it. I’m not as daring as you, as I don’t wear flats EVER. http://www.hotcelebration.com

i would probably wear heels even more if I wasn’t a momma to littles. Although I love me a great flat, so I guess I just have to deal with looking short. ;-)

It’s so funny girls but I’ve always felt so super short at 5’2 1/2. (Might have something to do with DH being 6’4 my MIL being 5’10 and my 10 year old looking me straight in the eye!) However listening to you itty bitty girls post I feel positively tall! We shorties might not look as good in SOME of the clothes out there but I like to say that we fit and can be comfortable anywhere. Narrow aisles in theaters, stadiums and airplanes? No problems for us. I’m usually quite comfortable until some tall person like my husband tries to encroach upon my extra space!

love the all black ensemble with the cute blue flats! you are making me miss the pacific northwest! I’m from Portland but currently living in Amsterdam with my husband (it’s also very grey and rainy here -so I do feel right at home in that respect!) :)

Love those flats. You definitely don’t look goth to me. :) I can’t say I enjoy the rain but it gives us all the feeling that we can start fresh and anew. Have a great day!

Love the earrings and the flats! I love the rain too, but I have a really hard time with the cold. However, there is nothing better than falling asleep in a warm bed to the sound of rain on the roof!

  7. I love those flats!!!

Maybe it’s the principal of black making you look skinnier – it also makes you look shorter? I think you always look fabulous and if I didn’t know you were short, I wouldn’t know you were short, if that makes sense. You can’t tell from the pictures.

  20. I discovered this site by chance and really love your fashion sense. Funny part is I’m 6ft4 and cannot relate to your “short” issues at all. There may be downsides to being only 4ft11, but at least you’re only about 5 or 6 inches away from average height. Try being almost a foot away from average height and then come talk to me!
