no offense, blogger bun.

Striped Shirt/scarf: Old Navy.  Chambray: H&M. Boots: Aldo.  Bag/ Tights: Ross.  Earrings: Gift (thanks Tashi!)

I think it’s safe to say that I have a weird er– healthy relationship with stripes.

Moving on.

Do you ever get in a rut with your hair?  I was in a hair rut for like two months where I only styled my mop one of two ways; straight or curled.  Wow, so inventive.  Then a couple weeks ago as I was primping/prepping for the day I remembered that I have the whole head of long hair that I can do anything I want with.  Anything I tell you.  Inevitably up-do’s have followed.

Riveting I know.

Anyways, I’m all about the low funky buns right now.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not that bananas for the blogger bun/ top knot, that’s, well, everywhere for the last year.  I sorta feel like a grease monkey and a bobble head all at once when I do my hair like that.  Plus, as I’ve mentioned before I have a round face and it doesn’t do me any favors in that department.

No offense blogger bun.

And if I don’t feel great in something, even a hairstyle, I don’t wear it (trendy or not).  I think that’s an important part of being a woman.  Understanding what really works for you.

Speaking of what works for you, have I mentioned before how ardently I adore Washington?  My goodness it is delightful here.  I know that not everyone can love this state, it’s rainy, and there are a lot of trees and some people just can’t get there.  But of all the places I’ve lived (and I’ve lived in 6 different states) this is my most favorite.

I mean look what’s right outside my front door.

My goal is to never get caught in a hair rut, but of course it happens. Right now I rock long loose curls, a french braid or a side pony. All of these turn into the blogger top knot at the end of the day! With a baby who likes to “style” my hair, there really is nothing better!

THANK YOU! I really dislike the high bun, blogger bun hair-do. I really don’t think it’s flattering. I think your low bun is beautiful and sophisticated. Sorry to anyone who reads this, I’m just over the style. Love your outfit Cori, I use your outfits as inspiration for mine!

I am totally rocking the blogger bun right now. lol. but you’re right, if you don’t like how it
looks on you, then going with what suits you best is the way to go.

Seattle is such a dreamy place. I absolutely cannot wait until I return or move there,
    one of the two!

    best wishes.

I haven’t had hair long enough for a bun in so long I forgot what it’s like! But i think your current style is awesome! You are making me want to grow my hair out.

and I am wearing the very same shirt from Old Navy today! I’m going to pin your version as I like the combo of colors! :)

I do like the top knot bun, but I notice whenever I have my hair like that I inevitably bonk it on the top of the minivan when I crawl in to get my kids buckled! Mom problems :)
I really love how you did a low bun with volume, though, might have to make this the blogger bun version 2.0.

I love this updo on you – the headband adds such a cute touch! I finally have grown my hair long enough to do fun stuff and yet, just like you I’m just wearing it down all the time! I’m going to rock a side braid tomorrow! Maybe. ;)

I really like the bun! Did you tease your hair to get the bit of poof behind the headband? I have thick hair with good texture, but I have such a hard time getting it to look like that. I am going to have to try that hair style soon. I’m inspired! =)
Oh…and where in WA do you live? I have lived in the NW my whole life. It is so beautiful!

  15. I can’t pull off the top knot. Lately my har has either been in a tight bun or pony – I’m so bland!
