Jason Wu, where are you?

Skirt: Thrifted.  Blouse: The Loft.  Cardi: Target.  Shoes: Jessica Simpson via Ross.  Earrings: Gift.  Necklace: Ross.

Is anyone else as frustrated as I am at Target for introducing an out of this world “American Girl in Paris” Jason Wu line and not providing nearly enough stock to suffice?  I don’t understand that logic.  You have customers, who want to buy your stuff, you know there will be more people who want it than product, and yet you proceed anyway?  I know, I know you want to create a huge demand.  But isn’t that only advantageous if you’re going to sell things for astronomical prices?  In my estimation the only people benefiting from this are those shameful ebay sellers who are now selling the stuff for 4 times the price it was in the stores.

Clearly I’ve never been to business school.

Also, another gripe I have with this whole Jason Wu debacle is that they chose to release the line on Sunday.  Don’t they know that I don’t shop on Sunday?  They should have known this and planned their entire release around accommodating me, clearly.  By the time Monday morning rolled around, everything in an extra small was already gone.  Boo.

Luckily I snagged this pretty peachy blush colored top in a medium yesterday, and because I’m a seamstress extraordinaire I think I’ll be able to make it work.  Hopefully.

I still love you, but seriously Target?  I call foul.

Okay, I’m done whining…

In other news, I really love this skirt that I found at the thrift a couple weeks ago.  It’s actually quite twirly, and I felt so pretty in it all day long.  Ironically, I like to wear clothes that make me feel pretty. I know, shocking.

Anyways, I have the most fabulous thrift store right near where I live.  Just one more reason to love Washington.  And there is some lovely petite lady who likes to donate her fabulous clothes there because  I am constantly finding all kinds amazing pieces, like this skirt for example, or Banana Republic pants in 00P.  I don’t know how I’ve gotten that lucky, but I’m sticking to that thrift store like glue.  There you have it.  My loyalty to the Goodwill.

I’m so classy.

Happy Wednesday to you.

I saw one piece from the Jason Wu collection at my Targets. Once piece out of 3 stores. Every time I see a commercial for it I get really mad so I totally agree with you.

I don’t even try to get those special launches at Target anymore — everything is gone in 2 seconds. Bummer!
You are so lucky to find such nice things at thrift stores. The ones where I live don’t have so many gems ;)
I love twirly, girly skirts, too :)

  6. this outfit is perfection.

i was at target early and only grabbed a tshirt, tote, and the last scarf. one group of ladies together cleaned out the majority of the dresses – 1300. it was … interesting.

I totally agree! I didn’t get down to my Target until 9:30 (I wasn’t planning on going, but I woke up and figured why not) and it was pretty picked over. I ended up walking out with one top. I still get mad when I see the commercials for the line! How do you have commercials for it when all of your stores are out of stock?

Isn’t this pretty much how it works with EVERY “special line” Target introduces? Everything is gone the second it comes out, and never to be restocked or seen again. I stopped paying attention to the new lines that come out a long time ago due to my disappointment.

BUT best of luck with your blouse, and you look adorable!

  19. I didn’t fully understand that so many people in my hick town would buy out the line! I wanted to get the shirt that you got, but they only had a x-small! And I need a medium, how funny! I’ve been reading you for a long time and I love your blog!

I am actually searching ALL OVER the internet for a navy a-line skirt JUST LIKE THAT so color me jealous that you found one thrifting! I love this whole look on you- but I always love everything you wear, so I guess that’s no surprise.

AND…. for the record, I’m VERY ANNOYED with the whole Jason Wu deal. All I wanted was the navy pintuck dress and I can’t find it anywhere. I doubt it would fit me anyhow!

I think you’re wearing my uniform skirt from high school! We had them in blue, grey, and two different plaids. It’s funny how when you wear a certain style for your entire adolescent years, you never think to wear it again. But after seeing it look so lovely on you, I might just have to try again! Thanks for the reminder of a very flattering look.

I was able to snag two handbags a top and a dress. I arrived within 20 minutes of opening and it was mostly sold out. I was really looking forward to more pieces but our store didn’t even get the entire collection.

I was disappointed that they didn’t stock more. But at the same time I shouldn’t have expected much because this is the only Target within 6 hours or so and we live in a very small area of the country that isn’t very fashion forward.

Hi there! I have followed your blog for quite some time and as a fellow petite lady I really enjoy it. Anyway, I am member of a facebook group that swaps our Jason Wu finds between ourselves to avoid using ebay. Many of us even go out of the way to find things for other women in other states who cannot find certain items. You may have read about it in this Yahoo article http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/target-shoppers-resort-unusual-methods-jason-wu-220300619.html. Anyway, I thought I’d let you know that many girls have been searching for the Jason Wu Belize Blue canvas skirt with no luck. I suggested on the Facebook page that some people look at your Etsy site for a similar skirt and many seemed interested. I was wondering if you plan on making more skirts? I was also wondering if you would share where you purchase your delicious material? Thanks a bunch!
