I’m happy to introduce you all to two lovely ladies. Isabel and Carissa. They are so cute, and even better, they are bargain fashionistas! Awesome. Take it away girls!
Hello La Vie Petite readers! We’re Isabel &; Carissa from A Dose of Lovely. Since Cori is so busy with getting established in her new home, with her three little ones (how does she do it?!), we are here to share a few small tid bits on one of our favorite styles of this year [and of all time].
Color Blocking
While this is obviously not a new trend, it is suddenly popping up all over the place–much to our delight. This style is made up by separating your outfits out into blocks of color. We love it because you can create an outfit full of all colors whether they’re contrasting or complimentary, bright or subdued–it really is up to you how wild you want to get! This allows you to put those bright pieces to work that you have laying around that just don’t quite match with anything else. Toss those matching notions to the wind and try a little bit of color blocking, you won’t regret it.
If you’re having a hard time deciding which colors to pair together, try making a equilateral triangle with three colors, chances are–it will be the perfect combination!
Skirt: Banana Republic // Belt: TJ Maxx // Top: Macys // Scarf: thrifted
For my outfit I really wanted to use my chartreuse top. It is one of my favorites, but I have yet to wear it with anything but basics. I decided to go with a navy skirt, neutral heels, and a bright red belt. I then added a little bit more color by adding the head scarf to the mix. Next time I plan to go even brighter, maybe orange, green, and purple? So perfectly, and stylishly against the rules.
Shirt: Thrifted // Skirt: F21 // Shoes: Nordstrom Rack // Bracelet: Lace I had laying around
It’s hard to tell in the photos above, but my blouse is a bold peach. So I decided to mix it with an even bolder turquoise skirt that I never really wear but felt it was perfect for this occasion. Since I’m still new to color blocking I chose a nude shoe. However, I was looking at my clothes that have polka dots on them, and was brainstorming a polka dot color block! Hmm, stay tuned?
