White Denim Pants: The Loft (Cropped by me). Button-up: H&M. Braided Belt: Ross?? Necklace: NY&Co. Shoes: Aeropostale. |
When I was in high school, white denim was practically fashion suicide. It didn’t belong anywhere near your closet post-1989, and honestly, I wouldn’t have been caught dead in it. I wasn’t any kind of fashionista in high school, trust me. I was about 4’9″ and weighed a staggering 85 pounds, so my clothing options were pretty much limited to the kids section, and when I sometimes fudged my way into an XS from Abercrombie. I did, however know enough to stay away from white denim. This is what I find so fascinating about trends. How they change, how they resurface and reinvent themselves.
When I bought these pants at the Loft, it took me some time to build up the courage to wear them. Not all white pants are created equal, and denim is much clingier than linen. Not only did I have some residual reservations about white denim left over from my adolescent years, but I also felt like these pants did a brilliant job of highlighting my derriere. And I’m not so sure I want to highlight that particular part of my body. I may be small, but guys, I’ve got a booty. And after 3 littles, it’s not quite as perkalicious as it used to be. Yes, I just made up that word. The first time I wore these pants, I spent the entire day pulling the back of my cardigan down to cover my white clad hind-parts. Nervous and self-conscious until the moment Mr. walked in the door from work, took one look at me, eyes wide and said, “Nice pants, they make your bum look hot.” (Enter rump squeeze.)
I think white denim is such a great fashion piece.. well I was born in 1989 so I don’t really know about the fashion faux pas during the 90s. Love the last pictures. xo
Cute. Husband compliments are always my favorite too!
Just the endorsement to change your whole outlook….gotta love the husband praise. You look adorable!
He’s right! They are super flattering! Don’t be ashamed! I hope I look as good as you after three kids!
I love your white jeans! (And they look great on you!)
They look great on you!
I know it went through an “out” fashion time, but I think white denim looks clean and refreshing. These cropped pants are great!
White pants on the beach! you are a brave girl.
I love white… white skirts, white pants, white shirts. I’m just always getting dirty!
Love this look! And sounds like you have a very sweet hubby who knows you’ve got it goin’ on :)
The nice thing about being a mom is that trends are different than the teeny boppers. Pretty sure my younger sis and her friends wouldn’t be caught dead in white pants. I, however, LOVE mine. . .and yours!
super cute outfit! i have ventured into white jeans although i’m still self conscious when i wear them, i bought them on sale and i think i need to find a better fit and then perhaps i’d feel a bit more confidant. ;D way pick the right pair, and the right guy! ;)
I love white pants and you look totally hot in them! Have to agree with your Mr. on the bum part :) Im still searching for my pair of whites and no luck so far!

These are amazing pictures! What a terrific shoot. I love the pants and you look fantastic. It is amazing how the littlest of compliments can totally change the outlook.

I bought my first pair of white pants (not sure if they are crops, for petite they are crops but they are actually pants for the average size person) at Gap months ago and I love them. Something about the crisp clean white that makes an outfit look gorgeous! I love your outfit and your pictures :)
