color-blocking coral.

I’ve have this rule for myself that if I’m wearing something baggy on bottom I never wear something baggy on top.  If fashion is architecture, and all about the proportions, like Chanel said, then I don’t want to look like I got dressed in a potato sack.  I think I’ve established, however, that I’m willing to break pretty much any of my rules for my white linen pants.

Pants, Shirt: The Loft.  Jewelry: Gift.  Purse: Steve Madden via Ross.

And when Mr. Husband got home from work, the first thing he said was that he liked my shirt.  And then he said he liked the way I paired it with the loose pants, cause it made me look at sleek and casual.  In guy-talk that means hot.  I call that a success.

Now, on to the purse.  I was literally running through Ross last Saturday in a giant hurry, (entire family was waiting in the car for me) when this dreamboat of a bag all but called out to me from the purse section.

Hanging on the front of an isle, I spotted this baby from probably 50 feet away and gave an audible sigh when I picked it up.  And then I saw that it was Steve Madden, and only $36 dollars.  That’s practically a miracle.  Not to mention the fact that it combines coral, a nice neutral, that crisp white that I swoon over, all wrapped up in a fabulous Chevron stripe.  I mean they’re not just stripes, they’re Chevron stripes.   I love this bag on so many different levels it’s just wrong…

My little love affair with my new bag got me thinking about how I accessorize using  the color coral.  So I did what any self-respecting woman would do.  I pulled out every coral colored accessory I own and did a little inventory.

Left to right: shoes: Old navy.  Scarf: The Loft.  Bracelet, Earrings: Gift.  Circle earrings, brooch necklace: Target.  Necklace: Gift.  Purse: Steve Madden via Ross.

And I decided that I am unconsciously  drawn towards coral.  But I’m okay with that.  Coral is a fabulous way to liven up what would have otherwise been a dull outfit.

So, how do you accessorize this fabulous color?

I just bought my first coral blouse (a fitted cap-sleeved, button-up with a massive bow tie), so in theory, I’d accessorize with lotsa gold, white accents, my lightest summer blond and an awesome tan.

    (also, you’re adorable. the end.)
