Let’s just establish right now that these pictures are overexposed. Yesterday it was too sunny and too windy and I had too little time to do anything more fabulous than keeping my mascara from running all over my face. Blah blah blah, the end. I think the hubbs did pretty good with what he had to work with though, huh? (Too much sun, too much wind, and me for a model)
Speaking of overexposure. When I dropped Hannah off at school today, she leaned across the seat to give me a smooch goodbye, stopped, and turned abruptly to look around. I asked her what was wrong and she said, “Oh nothing, I just (insert slight hesitation) didn’t want my friends to see.” On the outside, I think I chuckled a little, smooched her anyways and told her there’s no reason to be embarrassed about giving her mom a kiss. On the inside:
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I have been dreading this day since she started kindergarten, (well actually, since she was born), the moment when she was too embarrassed to give her mom a kiss in public. (It wasn’t even that public, we were in the car for crying out loud) Anyways, I knew the world would get in at some point I just didn’t picture it happening in 1st grade. I’m not that nerdy of a mom am I? I just need to come up with a really brilliant plan to brain wash my 6 year old into thinking that smooching your mama is super cool. You know, like Adam Sandler in Billy Madison. “It’s cool to pee your pants,” except not peeing her pants. “It’s cool to kiss your mom, kissing your mom is the coooolest.” I think it could work, and even if it doesn’t, I’m gonna make her smooch me anyway.
I would be pitying myself alot more today, but the hubbs is working from home. I love it when he works from home. He gets this really cute face while he concentrates on his laptop, and has all kinds of important conference calls. And the man is so hot when he’s on a conference call…
See you tomorrow.
your outfit is so cute and these pictures still turned out really well even if they are overexposed (i hate it when that happens too).
and wow, first grade and she’s already embarrassed?! i guess they start young these days. at least she’ll still be kissing you at home and elsewhere. :)
cute and little
come join the color brigade!
I think your pics look great. They are much better than mine even if they are overexposed. Cute outfit!
Oh no! I will definetely die a little inside when my son no longer runs from his class and straight into my arms :( I hope your plan to convince her back into giving you some love works!
I think this outfit is adorable and the pictures don’t look bad to me at all. Lots of style bloggers do that over exposed/ hipstamatic look on their photos which can be annoying but these aren’t like that!
your outfit is darling. i love this blog. your little girl is too young. i hope she still gives you kisses anyway.
Calm down, girl :) hahaha
Your outfit is so cute today – regardless of the lighting.
I don’t have any children yet, but I was sad just reading about your daughter. I have a niece this age and she is starting to act like that as well. So far I’m just the cool Aunt, but she has already told her Mom people were going to make fun of her for wearing stripes. Hello…she’s 6 & besides that, stripes are so in! :) hahahaha
Your outfit is still very pretty, so the weather worked in your favor! Your picture turned out great and your outfit is cute!
ps. She will grow out of it don’t worry! ;)
Beautiful. And the landscape is spectacular.
My son asked me to stop holding his hand in public when he was 4. It killed me! The good news is that they still love you, even though it is embarassing in public. My son is now 18 and he will hug me and tell me he loves me on occassion, it just makes it all the more special when it does happen. Hang in there!
