gone, going, gone.

Dress: Target, Cardigan: The Loft, Tights: Target (I think), Shoes: Target (seem to really like Target, huh), Belt: Thrifted, Ring: Charlotte Russe, Watchlette: Gift
My husband left me.  Don’t worry, it was just for three days.  A business trip to Seattle had him exiting the house in favor of the airport long before the sun came up this morning.  Last night we laid on the floor in our room and watched Sleepless in Seattle and ate popcorn and a bunch of other junk.  Then we packed up his microscopic suitcase and went to bed for way too few hours.  How is it that men can pack so light?  I don’t think I could have fit my toiletries in the suitcase he packed everything he’ll need for the next 3 days in.  Huh.  I’m not a light packer.  Every time I’ve tried to pack light it ended in disaster (a spill, too cold, a fat day…you get the picture)  So now I over pack, because well, better safe than sorry.

Speaking of sorry, when we were first married I hated being away from him so much, whenever this rarity occurred I would do the adult equivalent of curling up in the fetal position and crying myself to sleep.  Okay, not the equivalent, I would actually curl up in the fetal position.  I can’t fall apart like that anymore, (even though I feel like it) I’m the mom now.  So instead of becoming a blubbering basket case, I line up a whole heap of projects then race to get them done before he gets home.  Last year when he went to China for two weeks, I painted my living room, entry way, and put up a board and batten treatment in my family room.  I only have three days, so I’m going to keep my aspirations a bit more realistic this time.   Let the race begin…

How it worked: I lovey love love this dress so much.  I seriously stayed in it all day, even after church was over because it is that comfortable, and I love the way I feel in it.  The ruffly collar goes all the way around the back, and is to die for.  I love the pattern, the length, the way it hangs, yadi yadi ya.  This sweater is so pretty it should be a crime.  I seriously cannot ever get enough of this kind of ruffling.  I’m obsessed with tights, and these polka dot ones were love at first sight.  They are comfortable too; they don’t squeeze the bajeebeez out of my stomach.  The belt is a little large, I’ll have to use my trusty leather punch to add another hole, but alas I was running late for church and didn’t have time to do it before.  Another necessity for small girls, a leather punch.  You can get them for less than ten dollars at the fabric store and the hole they punch looks professional as opposed to the shoving the end of your scissors through your belt.  (come on we’ve all done it…)  As church outfits go, this is probably one of my most comfortable, mom friendly get-ups.

  3. Ughh, being without your significant other is significantly LAME! I remember being away from my husband for a week after a few months of marriage, and by the end of that week, I was an emotional wreck. Let’s hope we’re all a little wiser and saner these days, eh? =) Lining up all those projects is a good move.

And, also, HOORAY for comfortable, flattering dresses. They pretty much make my life.
