Sometimes, you just don’t have it. Whatever it is, you’re off your game. Sometimes, I am photogenic. This was not one of those times. It was genuinely difficult for me to find more than one picture in the whole bunch where I wasn’t closing my eyes, had my mouth half open, looking in the wrong direction, or doing something truly odd with my body. Note to self: learn to pose better. Posing is unnatural to me. I have learned this. My sisters are excellent posers. I swear, when the cameras come out, they suddenly look like super models. Their hair is somehow perfectly windblown and their smile looks surprised and brilliant. I, on the other hand, turn into Suzy Awkward the second that lens comes into full view. This blog provides ample opportunities for me to leave my comfort zone by catapulting myself in front of our Canon every afternoon, and trying to not appear as embarrassed as I actually am. I guess we’ll see.

In other news, we’re going hiking this evening when the hubs returns from work and miss Hannah is dismissed from school. Have you ever been hiking in the desert? It’s pretty incredible. If you haven’t I highly recommend it. The thing about the desert is, it’s not such a outright beauty as most places. I didn’t think it was all that pretty until I moved here and started really looking at it; at the shape of the land, the way the sun spills across the sand, the architecture of the hostile vegetation. It’s really quite beautiful to me now. And hey, it’s really easy to keep your kids on the trail and obedient when disobeying would almost certainly result in being impaled by a saguaro or a prickly pear. Win, win.
How it worked:  Notice that I am, in fact wearing heels on a mommy day.  These worked because of the handy straps that secure them nicely to my feet, even through my trip to Costco, but I must admit that my little feet were quite tired by the end of the day, especially after standing at a counter dishing out spaghetti all evening for our Young Women’s activity at church.  The jeans are comfortable, but they are long enough that they have to be worn with heels, so I don’t wear them as often as I otherwise might.  I love the boyfriend style cardi and it’s fabulous embellishments.  And grey after all, is sort of a favorite color to wear.  Notice that I ditched the green purse in favor of a smaller mustard yellow arm-bag.  I hope the purse to body ratio is better because I don’t think I could fit all of my mommy gear in a bag any smaller.
PS. Do you love the loft as much as I do? They are having a sale right now. 40% off your entire purchase (including sale items).  You’re welcome.
