eet tooth lately. It’s bad. I don’t know what happened. I was so good all summer, eating healthy, avoiding sweets and carbs, and then the other night I told the kids I would make chocolate chip cookies with them, and then bam! Diet b

es. I don’t know what it is about fall, maybe the cooler weather, but all the sudden I just want to bake everything. And then I’m like, who am I? because I don’t bake in the summer. In the summer I want barbecue and fruit and hand squeezed lemonade and the last thing I want to do is turn on my oven ever. Then suddenly the air gets just a hint of crisp in it and I’m a goner. I swear, tonight while I was whipping up dinner for my family I found two cans of pumpkin in the dark recesses of my pantry and no joke my mouth started to water. Pumpkin! Two cans of it! It’s practically like winning the cupboard lottery. I mean consider all the pumpkin pie.
While I was baking cookies (for maybe the 3rd time) the other night, I decided that it’s just about time to replace my mixer. I have one of these which I’ve had it since we first got married a decade ago, and somewhere in the gazillion times we’ve moved over the past ten years it got a little (read a lot) beat up, and has now prematurely aged and is ready for retirement. I’m wondering if I should replace it with the same thing, except maybe in this gorgeous color, or try one of these, which I hear are fabulous. Thoughts?? What do you bake with?
You know what I love most about these transitional seasons, (I mean besides all the baked goods) is how easy it is to get dressed this time of year. When the weather is in that perfect middle point, I feel like my closet just speaks to me. And do you know what it whispers? Sweaters… One of my favorite transitional pieces (you know, the ones that help escort all your summer duds gracefully into fall) are lightweight sweaters, aka the most perfect layering piece on the planet. I snagged this super soft pullover at Gap in San Fran this last spring, and it has been such a perfect addition to my closet. It’s long since sold out but, these are lovely, lightweight and come in a variety of colors.
And now that I’ve covered fall, food and fashion, I’ll bid you farewell.

Love your outfit! I bake a lot also, but use the Bosch Mixer (found here: http://www.florenceadams.com)It holds 15 lbs of dough at once and you can reach in from the top of the bowl as it is more open than the Kitchenaid. I LOVE it!!!
I am a baker and cook at heart. nothing make me happier than pulling fresh rolls and cinnamon buns from the oven! I, too, am a Bosch girl through and through. I had a KitchenAid for 1o years and would never, NEVER go back. The Bosch can just handle so much more and plus I love all the attachments (I have the food processor and blender and they are FAB!).
I am clinging a bit to summer with grilling dinner and wanting corn on the cob and homemade ice cream (we made peach ice ream 2 nights ago) but I am craving cookies and stew, as well. Looks like Fall is trying to worm its way in!
LOVE the outfit. you’re totally right – the perfect light transition sweater(s) is just what any girl needs to make her happy :) (now if only i could get this baby out and have a semi-normal midsection again so i could wear some of these and not feel like it’s still 90 degrees..)

My Kitchen Aid has been going strong since 1986. Bread, cakes, eclairs-everything- executed with perfection…and of course, the slicing, grinding et al attachments outperform my Cuisinart food processor. I have considered replacing mine (Almond) for a hipper red or (insert color of the moment here) but why? It is a machine should be in an appliance garage anyway if not in use. Just sayin’…..
