Last night we made sugar cookies for Family Home Evening. We put Ava to bed first because girlfriend spent the entire afternoon/evening wailing while I tried to make dinner. There’s a magic hour where babies melt down and that hour just happens to be about dinner time. How convenient. Anyways, half-way through our cookie making adventure with the elder three, Ethan turns to me and Craig and says in his thick lisp, ” this is the best time of year.” I had almost forgotten in the pain of all that’s happened this year, the stress of the Christmas rush, and the busyness of the season how much I really love this time of year, and how much it really isn’t about presents or shopping or what’s under your tree, but how it’s about moments. Slowing down and spending time with the people that mean the very most to you. How grateful I am for my sweet family, who’s been around me through this trying year, where my faith and stamina have been tested more than I thought possible. So today, I just want to send a little gratitude out into the universe. For the people who buoy me up, the God that loves me, and the small reminders that life really is beautiful.
Love you, and Ethan, and all of your sweetness family. So much.
Absolutely elegant and fabulous!

THIS is the dress I want for myself…Love the olive heather.
How wonderful! Aren’t kids just the sweetest reminders of all that is good and true in this world? It sounds like you had as close to a perfect evening together as possible, and you found some peace together. That’s grace and joy–the best gifts of Advent and the entire Christmas season which will be upon us soon enough. I hope you continue to find small gifts from the heart and your healing and faith continue to increase well into the new year.
By the way, I am coveting that Kathleen dress. I am saving up and throwing hints at my Mr.!
Your lovely words brought tears to my eyes. May God bless you this festive season.

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook and opened my eyes…she wrote, ‘A quote that literally makes me a better mom everyday, “Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.” Thomas S Monson’
This is one of those seasons for me. I am tired and caught myself wishing Christmas was over already.
That’s when I knew I just needed to stop and remember why we have Christmas in the first place and how special a time it is.
