I’m not usually much of a top-knoter but an outfit this casual just demands a messy bun.
You’re all probably tired of seeing these booties, but seriously I cannot stop wearing them. Which makes me believe that I was right when I thought that camel colored booties are a most excellent closet staple. Good grief they go with everything. And this fantastic pair is so ridiculously comfortable with just the right amount of heel, that I still feel chic but almost forget I’m even wearing them. Also, studs. Just. Yes.
Do you ever have a piece that you used to use/wear all the time that sort of falls to the back of your closet and gets forgotten, and then later you find it again and remember that it is, in fact, the most fabulous piece ever? That’s totally this Michael Kors bag. I’ve had it for almost 2 years and I had almost completely forgotten about it. Which is silly because it’s a really great purse, with lots of compartments for keeping things organized which is very convenient, especially when you are a mommy, except that it doesn’t really scream “mommy,” if you know what I mean.
Incidentally, these awesome camo pants are another item that had been forgotten in the dark recesses of the closet since fall, and I am so happy that I had the wherewithal to go rummaging and happen upon them again. I never ever thought I’d feel this way, but I really do love wearing camo. Not in the overdone “wife of a hunter” type way, but I think just a touch can be so chic.
I’m finding the older I get, and the more curated my closet becomes, the more I realize that my most favorite pieces are the ones that work for me over and over again year after year. I’ve probably had this jean jacket for 8 years and I love it just as much as the day I bought it. Probably more, because I know how perfectly it goes with just about everything, and I adore the wash and the fit and I think this is what a staple piece demands. That it fits and flatters you, that it’s timeless and not (overly) trendy, and that it can remix the heck out of itself. I’ve got a whole lot of these and they’ve become the pieces to a closet that works really well for me. No fuss. No muss.
