I love it when an outfit can easily be transitioned from day to night. I mean, I love dressing up as much as the next girl, heck maybe even more, but I also know that there are lots of days when the amount of time I have to prepare for a date is less minutes than fingers on my right hand, and I find having quick little wardrobe hacks that take an outfit from day to night lickity-split to be incredibly helpful.
If you start with good blank canvas basics–like say– a denim shirt and a great pair of cropped black pants, it is beyond easy to take an outfit from day to night while still looking polished and stylishly intentional. The secret’s in the sauce, as they say. And by sauce, I mean, accessories.
Day: Scarf. Bag. Shoes. Sunglasses. Night: Blazer, Necklace, Necklace, Pumps, Clutch.
Classy but functional are requirements for your daytime accessories. I pretty much always feel like throwing on a scarf, especially this time of year and a pair of pretty ballet flats adds a polished finish to the outfit. Sunglasses and a bag fit to carry all my mom stuff and I’m set for the day, and ready to take on {just about} anything.
To take the outfit into the evening hours, I simply swap out the tartan scarf for a little sparkle via a statement necklace, throw on a classic white blazer, and a pair of pumps, then ditch the big-ole-bag for a chic clutch. A white blazer is a wardrobe workhorse, and it can be integrated into your rotation year round, especially when it comes to going out for the evening.
