I love getting dolled up as much as the next girl, but there are just times (especially as a mom) when I need my clothes to be ultra functional.  Enter, athleisure.  Thank goodness this trend is going strong right now that I’m in what feels like a new busiest stage of motherhood. (Isn’t every stage like this?)  This is definitely a trend I can get behind.  I love that you can look and feel chic while also wearing something ultra comfy and functional.

When I was a kid, my mom had this tradition where she would take us on these little one-on-one dates.  Growing up in a family with six kids, meant that my mom’s time was super stretched, and those dates were really special.  Now that I’m a mom of four, I appreciate even more that my mom made such a herculean effort to make us feel special and spend that solo time with us.  It’s also something I try to do with my own kids.

All three of my big kids are going back to school today so I’ve been squeezing in their back-to-school dates over the last week.  Yesterday, I took Ethan for his.  He has always been so chill and he is by far my easiest child, so of course he asked for a super chill mom date.  We went to a park and played, watched some soccer games and talked about what he wants to accomplish this year, what he’s excited about, and I also reminded him once again not to sneak legos to school in his backpack. ;-)  Then we drove over to dairy queen for a treat because: Pumpkin Pie Blizzards.

This is the kind of day when I love to pull out my athleisure pieces.  These usually consist of a great pair of comfy chic joggers, a white tee, and some sneakers.  I like to throw on a denim jacket to keep the look grounded and from looking too much like I’m going to the gym.  Add a backpack so my hands are free for playing (or chasing Ava).  And voila!  It’s also a great style for Costco runs and other busy errand days.  Plus there is never a time when you’ll feel this comfortable while still looking chic.  I’ve rounded up a bunch of my favorite athleisure pieces below in case you’re interested in trying the trend. (And I highly recommend you do.)

So how do you feel about the athleisure trend?  Are you on board?
