for dad.

See that sweet guy up there?  He’s pretty special.  He almost never makes an appearance on this blog, but he’s a pretty substantial part of the Robinson universe, and truth be told we’re all pretty in love with him.   Since father’s day is coming up in a few weeks, I thought it would be approp to kind of talk about this guy for a hot minute.  Because he’s really awesome. Such an amazing dad, husband, partner in crime.  I literally could not have found a better spouse for myself, or dad for my kids, which makes me feel proud, you know, of me… ;-)  Sometimes I feel jealous of my kids that he’s their dad, but then I remember that I get to be his wife so, even better.

The only problem is.  He is the most impossible human being to buy a gift for.

Are all men like this?  I feel like mostly they are.

He doesn’t care about clothes, (the horror!) and he’s completely selfless, so there’s not a lot he wants…  Which gets tricky on holidays and birthdays, because what do you get the guy that doesn’t really want anything??  As I’ve said in the past Craig is actually a very fine gift giver himself.  He’s uber thoughtful and creative, and he pretty much always nails it in the gifting department.

This year, I’m thinking ahead, because I will not be conquered by this tricky to shop for human being!  I think the key when shopping for dad, is to consider what it is he likes to do and try to find something artful and/or thoughtful that relates to his interests/personality.

I’ve come up with a fairly comprehensive gift guide for dad below, whatever his interests should be…

The Dapper Dad:

The Sports/Fitness Dad:

The Hipster Dad:

The Outdoorsy Dad:

The Photog Dad:

The Techy Dad:

The Daredevil Dad:

If none of these work for the Dads in your life, consider gifting them an experience.  It doesn’t just have to be reserved for vacations, look for experiences in your local area and really surprise him.  Booking is so simple and easy, you can search for local experience gifts right from trusted travel website like Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz.  In Seattle for example, I could surprise him with  anything from a whale watching tour, to a ride on a sea plane.  Then you can have fun with it, coming up with a creative ways to give him the gift.

And if all else fails… a gift certificate certainly does the trick. ;-)
