Shopping for toys is fun and all, but my favorite thing to buy my kids for Christmas is a new outfit. It’s probably not their favorite thing to open. Okay, fine. It’s definitely not their favorite. The boys usually say something to the effect of “Not a squishy present!” or “Oh, thanks.” Before setting it in their pile and forgetting about it. Hannah’s just starting to reach that age where clothes are a little bit exciting for her, which makes me want to stand on the rooftop and shout “hallelujah!”
Anyways, because my boys are rambunctious, and busy and creative, they also basically destroy their clothes in a matter of weeks. (let them be little and all that.) So for the most part I’m very practical when buying them clothes. Sturdy and simple, they are t-shirt and jeans boys all the way and their everyday wardrobe, which needs to be completely replaced every single time the season changes, reflects as much.
The girls, I can have a little more fun with, but even Hannah can put a hole in the knee of her jeans with surprising accuracy. And Ava, well she’s just growing. Growing like a chubby little weed.
Most of their clothes are pretty basic, everyday pieces that can be mixed and matched, that aren’t too pricey and that can hold up to at least a few months of hard wear, but for Christmas I like to buy my littles something a little special. I don’t overwhelm them with a smorgasbord of new duds, but I love to get them one new outfit each and I love to make it really special. Something that just fits their personality.
Here are my picks for this year. Almost everything was found at mini boden, because let’s face it. Boden is just my jam.

I chose this quirky little farm dress for Ava because the print was so darling and unique, and it also reminded me of my childhood and the dresses my grandma used to sew for me. She had to have boots, because boots are her thing right now and you should here her say “boooot.” So hilarious. Sweater tights keep those chubby little legs of hers warm, and that cardigan with the ears… enough said.

Ethan is just one of those boys who looks so at home in stripes. He’s kind of a solid little bruiser, and if any of my kids end up a rugby player I predict it will be him. Plus he’s got the sweetest disposition, I can just see him in a pom beanie.

Carter’s a little bit rockstar and a little bit lumberjack, somehow rolled into one kid, so plaid in a punky green and a pair of vintage cords just felt so him. And if you’ve ever met the kid you’d know that that beanie was basically made for him.

Ah Hannah. My dreamboat ten-year-old. She’s such a print mixer, she loves stripes (I have no idea where she gets that from) and mint is her favorite color. Mixing this bird skirt with a peter pan color breton shirt, was the obvious choice. That mint toggle coat just has to be hers, with those sweet mary janes to match. She’s not a lover of tights, so these footless ones are a fantastic option for her. And of course, every girl needs a little sparkle. This headband does the trick.
Boden is offering free shipping on all orders right now, and a lot of their stuff is on sale.
Happy Shopping.
