I have never been a bikini wearer, even when I was younger, but I’m definitely not now that I’ve had 5 pregnancies.  I usually stick to the one-piece side of the fence, but last year all these adorable high waisted bikinis started coming out, and I love how cute and vintage they feel, and how flattering they are.  How they cover all the areas you want covered and are still fun.  Then when I stumbled upon this adorable red gingham one, I couldn’t resist.  I paired it with this cute romper, and my favorite straw bag, panama hat and sunglasses.

I’ve never loved myself in a bathing suit, and I’m not even going to give my body insecurities validation enough to explain all the things I don’t like about my body, but the thing I really don’t like, is the idea that my girls might end up with the same ones.  So I’ve started forcing myself to be more comfortable in a swimsuit.  To stop shaming myself, and focusing on my insecurities when we’re at the beach.  I never notice or care if someone else doesn’t have a perfect body, and I’m pretty sure that no ones else cares if I do/don’t.  I’m not sure if that’s going to make a difference to  girls , but I definitely don’t want them to learn it from me.

Here’s what I do know.  Finding an adorable swimsuit that flatters me impacts my confidence a great deal, and makes it easier to let loose and just have fun when we’re all swimming.  I once heard someone say, look in the mirror, and put yourself together in a way that you feel good, then leave the house and forget about yourself.

What kind of swimsuit makes you feel the most confident?
