I once worked in a bookshop and the owner told me that when it wasn’t busy to read all the books I wanted so I would know what to recommend to customers. I decided right then and there, that I belong in a book shop. Do you have someone on your list that just belongs in a bookshop? We’re kindred spirits. Here are my personal picks for the bookish types, who belong tucked away in the corner of an old bookshop, or curled up on the sofa with a classic in hand and a cup of cocoa. Dreamy right?
An antique typewriter. True literary types always appreciate the apparatus that original pounded out some of the greats. I have a beautiful antique typewriter that sits on my entry table, but I love these colorful collectible ones you can find at anthro.
I’m a mug collector. I’ve got dozens of whimsical mugs and none of them match. I kind of love that.
Collectible classics. I probably have 4 copies of Pride and Prejudice and at least 2 of Jane Eyre, I’d still add these two colorful versions to my library, just because they’re perfect. Plus you can never have too many copies of P&P.
A knit throw. I’m a big believer in comfy blankets, which is why I’ve got baskets of them placed strategically all over my house, basically anywhere someone might want to curl up and get cozy.
Since we’re talking gift guides for the bookish type, I had to include one of my all time favorites, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I love this book so much, I know I’ve talked about it several times before, but seriously. So darling. I love the characters so much I feel like they are old friends. Plus, it’s all about people who love books, so… Perfect stocking stuffer for really anyone on your list, but especially the avid reader.
This tee made me laugh. And we all need one of those. It reminds me so much of my creative writing classes in college. Every time I was struggling to get the dialogue just right, I would think sarcastically to myself, “blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” Haha.
The Kathleen Dress. I can’t lie, Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail was totally my muse when designing this dress. I’ve been coveting her wardrobe since I first saw it way back in high school. So in tribute to the most adorable shop owner in history, the Kathleen. Now go get yourself a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils.
These letters cut from books are the most fantastic decor idea I’ve ever seen. I only wish I’d thought of it myself.
Warm PJ bottoms. Because obviously, you’ve got to get comfy. Plus polka dots. Yes.
Sipper Moccs. I have these in two different colors from Old Navy, and I highly recommend. They are so comfortable, I’ve been living in them around the house for the last few weeks.
So there you have it. Holiday Gift Guide for the Reader in your life…
