Let me preface this entire post by saying that I am not the kind of person who buys into hype. In fact, generally speaking, if something is getting a whole lot of hype I tend steer clear of it out of principle. I’m stubborn like that. I like to think for myself, so just because something is popular or everyone tells me I’m going to love it, doesn’t mean I will. And all the hype around Lululemon leggings for the last several years had me rolling my eyes skeptically.
But now, I’m a believer. Like a full blown, Lululemon fangirl and I’m not even embarrassed about it.
Let me tell you how this all came about.

I’m a big podcast listener, and one of my favorites to listen to is called “How I Built This” with Guy Raz. He basically interviews all these amazing people who have started successful companies, people like Kate and Andy Spade, the guy that started Home Depot, the founder of Starbucks, the guys who started AirBNB, Instagram, I could go on and on. It’s an amazing podcast.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I listened to the episode with the founder of, you guessed it, Lululemon. And listening to the story behind the brand made me really respect the mission, and what they were trying to accomplish with the product. It also made me curious to try the product, even though I typically don’t spend that much on athletic wear.
Then a week or so later, my friend Emily was in town and we went into New York for the day. We were walking through Soho and I saw a Lululemon store. I mentioned that I was interested in trying their leggings because of the episode I had listened to. She immediately started gushing about how much she LOVES Lululemon leggings, how amazing the product is, and how they literally make her legs and bum look better. Emily is a trainer and someone who’s opinion I really respect, so I knew I really needed to try them.
We popped into the Soho store and the shop girl directed me to the 21 inch cropped align leggings. Oh my goodness, the second I pulled them on I was hooked. And now I can say, without shame, I’m a Lululemon convert.
These leggings are worth every single penny. They are magic pants.
Here’s what I love about them.
First of all, they make you look good. Rather than emphasizing your trouble spots, these leggings have a double layer that sucks you in, lifts you up, smoothes you out, and camouflages the trouble areas.
They are sooooo insanely comfortable. I was worried when the girl at the shop said double layer that I might feel like I was suffocating, but no. These are the most comfortable leggings I’ve ever worn. You put them on and you never want to take them off.
They are buttery soft. I know I just said they are comfortable, but this deserves it’s own bullet point. They are the softest leggings I’ve ever worn.
They fit me perfectly. I have a lot of trouble finding workout wear being so petite, but the 21″ align crops fit like a glove. Like a really comfortable, flattering glove.
They are high waisted, but they don’t squeeze your waist. I love a good high waisted legging but most of them feel like they’re sucking the life right out of me. These don’t. I even wore them to travel last week and they were so comfortable.
Anyway, long story short, I’m in love with these leggings, they totally get my stamp of approval and I don’t think I’ll ever shop another workout brand.
